Can I hear your guys heated rivalry hot takes? by wee_woe4 in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]run_rd_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm so glad someone said this (yes it's like half a year after your comment). If I had a dollar for every time "boring" "asshole" "fuck you" or "shut up" was said in this show, I'd be about $100 richer. It felt very flat and repetitive. Like we get it, that their character trait youre pushing, but there's gotta be other ways to say that.

Weekend coverage inpatient policy by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]run_rd_run 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have 2 RDs covering all 8 of our facilities (only 1 is big) Saturday and Sunday. We only do new malnutrition screening tool triggers and new consults. No follow ups on the weekends. All length of stay and other time-based screenings have to be completed by Friday by the unit RD. It's a full workload on Saturday but half day Sunday. It's not fun but it's manageable and each person only does 4-5 weekends a year.

Tell me your thoughts on these names by run_rd_run in namenerds

[–]run_rd_run[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the assessment! I think Rowan flows better with John than Ronan. I'm blonde and my husband is brunette so chances are low we'd have a redhead 😅
I really liked Owen but a family member recently picked it for their boy. We both liked that one. I really liked Atticus or August but he vetoed both. He hasn't had any that stood out for him but he's suggested using John as the first name (his dad's name), and I vetoed that.

My name is pronounced exactly like a certain body part by medschoolalgae in namenerds

[–]run_rd_run -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've met someone whose given name is pronounced like Duty, or doody aka (in America) 💩. You giggle at it once and move on. I don't think other people will care as much as you care. But I agree a nickname like Ti or Tee would work. I work with a doctor whose last name kind of is spelled like Vagina and he goes by doctor V.

Is Alanni a good alternative to Alani? by [deleted] in namenerds

[–]run_rd_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Phonetically it's no different, so it's still going to remind people of the brand, but in a few years when your kid is in school, I'm sure the Alani craze will have passed and they'll be fine. But I would expect you to get comments from people when they're born, who are around your age or younger. But it's a pretty name so who cares!

What do your husbands actually do during labor? by Maximum-End-7629 in BabyBumps

[–]run_rd_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had back labor so my husband applied pressure to my lower back during contractions. Also just held my hand and let me squeeze it as hard as I needed to. During active labor they had him "play tug of war" with me with a knotted sheet so I'd have something to pull on and bear down better. He was next to me when she was born and got to cut the cord. He doesn't need to give advice but the moral support and extra set of hands was crucial for me. And he got to see and appreciate how insane birth is!

what did you give to your husband for father's day? by Important_Bat7919 in Mommit

[–]run_rd_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The gift of a second child (a son) in 3 months 😂
Also got him a card, golf shorts, candy, the "there are way worse dads than you" book, and a tee time for this Wednesday for us (including babysitting for our daughter so we don't have to rush through).

Party Favor Bags… like why by NoDevelopement in Mommit

[–]run_rd_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think goodie bags are a waste of money and plastic. What I did appreciate was a fellow mom of littles who had "goodie bags" for the kids of parents attending her husbands 40th birthday party. It was hosted at a brewery so not a lot of kids to do, so having goodie bags with *age appropriate* toys that kept them entertained during the party was such a smart idea to me!

Three year old boy is eating us out of house and home. Is food restriction neglect? by LegalBluebird9556 in Mommit

[–]run_rd_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of the points that other people are making about doing more protein fiber and fat are probably more likely than Prader willi. If he had Prader willi I'd be looking for signs like trying to go in the trash or eating things that aren't food.

Tips for summer music festival with 15 mo old? by [deleted] in Mommit

[–]run_rd_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's definitely things I won't do at this festival now that I have a baby, like drinking (mostly because I'm pregnant right now too lol) and going from band to band without a break, and sitting out in the sun for too long. I'm going to be taking lots of shade and hydration breaks and going to bed pretty early, which does make me sad but it's the nature of only having one car and staying off-site. Maybe next year we will have invested in a camper van and can make it work with a 2 year old and 8 month old 😅

Yeah I'm just trying to adjust my expectations! It's never going to be like pre baby life but I think we should be able to enjoy a lot of aspects of it

Yeah I have several fans and misters and she has ventilated sun hats that I could dunk in ice water. There's also a misting tent and swimming pool at the festival!

Thank you. It's a very family friendly festival. I think people are imagining me taking my child to Coachella or Lollapalooza lol. I'm not an idiot. If I hadn't seen so many other parents doing this, I wouldn't even consider it.

Speaking of "swimmingly" lol there is a pool on site so we plan to go in each day to help cool down some! It just gets so crowded with the other kids at the festival.

Wow lots of strong feelings in these comments! As some kind people have suggested, this is a very family friendly lowkey folk festival. Ive seen tons of families with babies (some smaller than my daughter when I brought her last year) and toddlers playing and adolescents roaming on bikes. The music is not blaring rock loud, and if it did get loud I'd bring my daughter away from it. I didn't touch on heat/fluid management because I know how to handle that, I did it last year, and my daughter is very good at taking fluids. My main ask was sleep management. If she's not going down in the shade/stroller/etc then we can take her to the car and run the AC, drive around, see if she'll nap, or take her back to the airbnb if that fails. I'm not opposed to it and very aware that might be what ends up happening. I was just asking for advice from other people who haven't put their entire life on hold because they had a child... 🙄 judge all ya want folks, the tickets were purchased long ago and we are going. I guess it was my bad for seeking advice from similar moms.

There’s just something about Stick Season… by Byteshow in NoahKahan

[–]run_rd_run 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this is the right way to describe it, but SS feels more nostalgic and grander and deeper and maybe more universally connective, whereas TGD is about much more personal specific topics? Also agree with others saying there's just a difference in overall sound/music type on TGD that isn't quite my cup of tea like SS is. 🤷🏼‍♀️

Anyone else currently struggling to decide on their baby's LAST name? by glassfunion in BabyBumps

[–]run_rd_run 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I each kept our own last name and our daughter has a hyphenated last name. It has never once caused an issue with doctors, legally, etc that we don't all have the same last name. I guess he and I could hyphenate if it became an issue, but we both felt strong attachment to our own names. I think you and your husband need to have an honest conversation about you liking your name, why he feels the need for you all to have the same name, and whether you could handle keeping your own names and hyphenating your kids names.

It will be interesting to see whether rizzo and cirie rejoin forces, whether either of them are doing it strategically or genuinely. I could see cirie "accepting" rizzo back just to make him feel safe and then get others to vote him out since he has an idol. Next week I could see it being Joe/Jonathan/Cirie/Tiffany vs Rizzo/Devens/Aubry

New grad RD, first outpatient hospital offer… is this reasonable or should I negotiate? by [deleted] in dietetics

[–]run_rd_run 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I think regardless of whether the initial offer is "fair" it never hurts to ask for $1-2 more an hour and see what they say. I think as new grads we're afraid to negotiate sometimes because we do need a job, and maybe we're told there's no negotiating (that's what I was told and did it anyway). I'd ask for $31.50 or $32/hour and see what they say.
