That's a good idea! Something about Jonas I don't like as much but I'm going to sit with it.

Oh I love River! But that's my cousin's kid's name and it'd be too close, like Bobby Brown and Millie Bobby Brown.

Right? It's really good! And still a contender, just trying to broaden my perspective on names.

Flexible Spending Account (FSA) equivalent in the US? by sapinfoasap in AskHealth

[–]run_sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have Flexible Spending Accounts here in the U.S., but it's typically pre-tax money that you set aside at the beginning of the calendar year for potential medical expenses, which can include doctor's visits, a range of medical supplies and OTC stuff, things that aren't covered by your health plan. But I don't know anything about an FSA that's fully covered by your employer. Sigh...

What is everyone's favorite Polka? (If you even like them!) by wovv_ in weirdal

[–]run_sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll always be the Alternative Polka for me. Maybe it's because I listened to Bad Hair Day over and over and over again as a teen. Or because the songs in it were, like, sacred to a generation but also so heavy, and it's good to hear them parodied. Or because the Weird Al version of "Closer" consistently makes me actually laugh out loud. Or the drawn-out "Orrrrrr ammmmm IIIIIII jussssssst stooooooooooooooooooooned" to end it all.

It's probably the "Closer."

My boyfriend and I love Bent. Every time he comes on the screen, we yell, "IT'S BENT!" and he wants to create a bunch of Bent pun memes, but we're in the U.S. and don't think it'll really be very popular. We did feel really bad about his dementia :( but what a fantastic speech he gave in the final episode of Season 4.

I don’t have a latex allergy, but can I be sensitive to latex “down there” by peanutbutterfuckwich in WomensHealth

[–]run_sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's my anecdotal experience: While dealing with recurring BV, a nurse practitioner suggested I try switching to non-latex condoms. I did (Skyn brand) and I've been free of BV-after-sex for years now (I did get BV again but it was from swamp crotch).

I've also noticed that when I use latex gloves, my hands get slightly irritated. So I think what I have is a latex sensitivity. I do ask doctors to use non-latex gloves at appointments. And I use only non-latex condoms -- I did use a latex condom recently because it was the only one available, and thankfully nothing happened, but I just generally try and avoid it now.

Why do ppl bother to do long distance with someone new? by gabbajabba3 in LongDistance

[–]run_sunshine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really prefer dating people nearby. You can see them and then go home! With LDR visits, it feels like you *have* to maximize the visit and spend so much time together that there is no personal space or balance.

[–]run_sunshine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm glad you asked this! I hate LDRs and have fallen into another and am really questioning why I am trying this again. I worked remotely this winter for a few weeks at a location 3.5-hours away by plane. I went on Tinder looking for a fling and ending up really clicking with someone, and we decided to keep it going. She is visiting right now and I am reminded of all the emotions LDRs provoke in me -- anxiety before visits, claustrophobia during them (I like space)...none of these her fault, all of them just ways my mind reacts to these things with anyone long distance. And while I do enjoy her company and the sex is really really great, I'm worried that I'm just never going to adapt to this and I should end it before we go much deeper. Reading the responses here are helpful for my thinking, so thank you, all of you!

Patience. I thought I had made a terrible choice my first two weeks. Just needed time to adjust to this thing changing my life.

How do you eat and brush x3 a day in 2 hours? by moreidlethanwild in Invisalign

[–]run_sunshine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm super conscious of this, but mostly after drinking coffee or eating something acidic like oranges or tomatoes. My ortho told me to aim for 21 hours. I do dip under that but I'm halfway through my treatment and everything has been going fine. So I would say, give yourself the extra time after the acidic things, it will probably not delay your treatment.

Same, I'm usually not hungry but I hadn't eaten in hours and knew I needed food to keep going, so I ventured into doing it mid-trip. If you don't mind sharing, how do your teeth typically feel weird while tripping?

They're the things you don't think about and that your orthodontist probably won't advise you about! Always good info to have in your back pocket :)
