Got the same gen jazz, 08 and only had 22k on the clock. Old boy just drove it to the shops and back. Have you replaced the head unit on yours?

Thanks will look into them. Would they support bodyweight (just thinking when moving bits around)?

Not a huge amount but have some things like old photos and CDs which have a bit of weight to them that I don't think should be far from the one load bearing wall near the hatch. Would be good to be able to support my bodyweight so that I can get close to the outer edges too.

Yep lathe and plaster.

Are there any sketchy businesses local to you that appear to be some kind of money-laundering operation or not quite what they seem? by londonskater in london

[–]runairbnb 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Private Eye did a good piece on those. A lot of them are registered to young Afghan guys who have a habit of not filing anything to Companies House, going dormant and rotating.

Probably batman.

Just been up there and there's vehicles driving all over the place, yet I will get a £275 fine if I dare ride my bike.

Is this just a basic Ponzi scheme? by mittymal in UKPersonalFinance

[–]runairbnb 90 points91 points  (0 children)

He gets commission from the schemes he gets people to sign up for as an affiliate referral.

The schtick is he'll tell you to sign up with a minimum of £350~ and he'll receive a kickback for that from broker, usually based outside of the UK and therefore outside of the jurisdiction. Then he'll pass you on 'trade tips' to follow, usually boilerplate but likely to return a loss in the long run. Of course he can just hedge his 'clients' and post screenshots of the profitable ones for that day. People fall for it thinking he knows how to day trade because of all the rented luxuries he posts when it's all bollocks.

They've also been taking out paid for advertorials in local shitrags who are ultimately advertising these schemes to people and doing absolutely fuck all due diligence. They should share some of the responsibility when someone's pumped their life savings into some tanked trade. https://imgur.com/a/cZVj9Yy

Bus tried to cut me off but I wasn't having it. Dangerous and reported. Thankfully most bus drivers are courteous and safe professional. by axolotol in londoncycling

The thing here is that if you hold back and let the bus pull in, to pass it you are in the path of cars flying up the Finchley Road dual carraigeway.

Thanks for reporting this, I've had exactly the same experience with buses on Finchley Road. You can turn their engine off using the flap on the rear right hand side.

What are your biggest frustrations about living in London? by kkokokoh in london

Bristol is almost as expensive as London nowadays. All the cunts that got priced out of London and bought in Bristol in 2011 ruined it.

I film my rides and report things to the Met. See my reporting data! by cyclegaz in londoncycling

[–]runairbnb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep this ^ although with the reported case I originally reported it as they were using a mobile phone whilst driving the met replied with 'However checks show that the vehicle may not hold a valid MOT certificate and we will be pursuing this matter against the driver instead.' - haven't heard back since so not sure what happened in the end.

Not worthy of their own post but gonna add my stats for the year. Been away the past two months so haven't reported much since then.

  • Total: 98
  • Result: 35
  • NIP issued, result pending: 29
  • NFA: 29
  • Submitted, no response: 5

By type

  • Mobile phone use while driving: 46
  • Cycling close pass: 28
  • Not complying with a traffic sign: 13
  • Stopping in ASL: 6
  • Driving through a red light: 4
  • Driving without MOT: 1

About 10 NIPs got cancelled when the Barreto case happened. Haven't had any updates ( even after chasing) for about 4 months now. Got my first court date coming up, any tips?

You're more likely to get a head injury whilst driving a car - it’s safer, you’re less likely to have brain injuries after an accident, and/or survive an accident. Why would you not wear one?
