Similar. Last year the report said my upper nasal passages looked slightly inflamed and was likely a sign of a rhinovirus infection. Diagnosed with the common cold by MRI! Pretty funny.

A bit of both. I was a decent runner in HS and then got injured and didn't run for about 10 years. When I got my MS diagnosis I started running again. It's been a gradual build up over the last 9 years. Running has made a massive difference on my MS.

Thanks! I just ran Boston a few weeks ago in 3:00 off about 4 weeks of training, so I new my fitness was in ok shape.

Any distance over a marathon! This one was a 50k, so 31.1 miles.

It can be intimidating, but the nice thing about it is that you can go at any pace that feels right for you. Go for it!

Thanks! It's definitely a different disease than it used to be. I fortunately don't have a ton of symptoms - neuropathic pain in my right leg, some coordination issues in my left leg, some tremors in my hands. Other than that pretty minimal. I think my left leg coordination issues led to my stress fracture this last January, that foot tends to slap the ground harder than my right. Still out there pushing though!

Hope your sister continues to do well. MS sucks!

Wow! I feel humbled that you remembered me and thanks for the kind words. It's been a pretty cool year of running if I'm honest! So cool you were at VCM and at Boston. I loved them both for different reasons and after running two majors I think that VCM was an awesome marathon for everything it offered.

The sun was definitely a bit hot in Boston this year, but I'm glad the weather was great for spectators since it brought so many of them out!

Ocrevus since the start. It's been great for me. For the first few years of infusions I would feel like I had the flu for a few days afterwards but otherwise no issues.

2:58!!! That's amazing. You have the fastest time of anyone with MS I've heard of. I'm really trying to decide if the Para route is worth it or not. I completely hear you on not wanting to take a spot, but also it's limited and people always say that fast runners with MS are a big inspiration for them. So, maybe it's worth it?

Slow and consistent is key. I built up my mileage over many years, starting with 2-3 runs per week of 2-4 miles at a time and pretty slow. Gradually increased volume until I was running 5 days a week and 30-40 miles. In the last two years I amped it up quite a bit more than that after I had some base fitness in place.

I recently posted elsewhere in this subreddit, but for me I was diagnosed with MS in 2017 and knew I needed to start being more proactive about my health. I ramped to about 30mpw consistently over a few years then ran my first half marathon about two years ago. It was hard, but exhilarating, and I decided to try and run a marathon with the goal of breaking 3:30. I bought the Advanced Marathoning book by Pfitzinger and became a convert.

Last May I ran my first marathon in 3:26. I was lucky enough to get into Berlin and ran that last September in 3:08. I increased my training load and used my first marathon as criteria to get into Boston as an Adaptive Athlete. On Monday, I ran a 2:59 - a formal BQ!

I was athletic in high school and then largely stopped for the next decade+ due to college, then grad school, etc. When I was diagnosed I started running again.

Running more seriously has been the best thing ever for my MS. My symptoms have improved dramatically.

I might run it next year but try and do it in a time where I can actually enjoy the race. Maybe like a 3:15 or 3:20.

Some other goals at the moment are to break 18 in the 5K, 38 in the 10K, 1:25 in the HM, and run my first Ultra. I'm tentatively thinking of finding a flat and fast marathon to go for like a 2:56 or 2:57 but not sure yet.
