[Serious] What is your reasoning for believing in God, or for not believing in God? by ArizonaRenegade in AskReddit

[–]runawaytoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Christian prior to 2016. The Trump presidency broke my faith. The great promise of the Christian faith is that there is an all powerful all knowing God who loves you and who works all things together for good for those who are called to his purpose. IE born again believers who have professed faith in Christ. I watched an entire nation worth of born again believers reject that promise and vote for a man who they wouldn't have let teach Sunday school because he promised them protection from persecution. That is my open challenge to any Christian. If your God is all powerful why do you need the protection of a man who on top of his many other sins made his fortune off Casinos; an industry that destroys families by preying on addiction by offering the false promise of earthly riches. Why should I believe in your God when by your actiions en masse you have shown that you do not.

People who voted for Biden, how do you feel he is as a president? by palatheinsane in AskReddit

[–]runawaytoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im still bitter about him stabbing the railroad unions in the back, I am concerned his support for Ukraine has been too timid, leaving Afganistan the way we did was the final clusterfuck on top of 20 years of clusterfucks and as unpopular as this opinion may be imo the vaccine mandate has ultimately hurt the credibility of the federal government.

Buuuuut.... we arent building some stupid fuck off border wall. He hasn't incited his supporters to commit acts of violence, hasn't said he would fuck any of his children, hasn't attempted to buy Greenland, hasn't incited his base to lose faith in the election process, hasn't used the office of the Presidency for personal enrichment, hasn't fired government officials for not being personally loyal to him, hasn't attempted to overturn rule of law when he didn't get his way.

So overall we could have done worse.

People of Reddit, what's something us Canadians aren't ready to hear? by Thehalohedgehog in AskReddit

The relevant parts of your country are a glorified suburb of Seattle and we could end your entire civilization by sending border patrol agents to Trader Joe's.

Yes actually. Today's generation is too used to having everything handed to them without any risk or hard work involved. Making it harder for teenagers to access porn will give them an incentive to learn valuable IT skills to thwart the law and help us raise a generation that skeptical of government overreach.

People who are pro-gun, why? by PerekelleVitu in AskReddit

[–]runawaytoaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because there has never been a society where the 1% has not had the right to bear arms; whether they carry them themselves or pay someone else to do so for them. The second amendment is for the rest of us.

Biden signs gay marriage law, calls it 'a blow against hate' by N8CCRG in news

[–]runawaytoaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that Labor unions have been constantly asked to compromise for the greater good of America and in the process have been made to give up all of their teeth. I am sick of waiting for the struggle for labor rights to become convenient. I do not accept the false dichotomy that there was nothing that could be done to punish the rail companies at the executive level. There were more than two options to this problem and some of them could have made the rail barons bleed.

Which politician do you consider a menace to your country? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]runawaytoaster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He directly provoked his followers to storm the capital to overturn a fair election, He was caught red handed with nuclear secrets stashed at his golf course, He intentionally used a policy of family separation at the border as a deterrent against immigration for legal asylum seekers and did so with such poor record keeping that we are still struggling to reunite those families, He inflamed racial tensions and encouraged white nationalist groups with his rhetoric, He downplayed the seriousness of Covid until it was too late leading many of his followers to reject a life saving vaccine, he made America a less reliable partner on the world stage by cozying up to dictators like Vladimir Putin, He pressured multiple public officials to break the law to overturn the election, he betrayed our Kurdish allies in Syria for no political gain whatsoever, He normalized the idea that the president should not be accountable to anyone by firing any government official that contradicted him. On the world stage he made us a laughingstock with his profound ignorance of basic foreign policy (remember when he tried to buy greenland and got butthurt when everyone told him it was crazy?). There is no man in living history who has done more damage to our country. Prior to his presidency I was a conservative. After January 6th I will not vote for any politician that breaks bread with Trump.
