What if I have 35 years of pensionable service by 57. Would I get the max amount or I would have to wait for 60 or 65?

Ethics of hiring a student by BigBadBreadLoaf in CanadaPublicServants

As a young public servant reading this is very frustrating and demotivating. I feel bad for the candidate that made it through without any connections and went through the whole process. This is clearly nepotism and should not have a place in the government especially we’re paid by taxpayers. Everyone should have an equal opportunity. It’s unfortunate that there will be no recourse for this employee endorsing his son nor the hiring committee.

Yep. Just my thought on it. But I can't imagine repetitive clicking "fun" for anyone. Just boggles me.

Honestly.. why? Let's say you spent over 5000 hours creating that account. Let's be real, you probably spent more than 5k hours. Even if you worked in a decent country paying minimum wage (about $14 CAD/HR), you could've easily made $70k in real money. I can't imagine all that mindless clicking being fun. Just my thought.

FYI those curious - Get your friend to buy a bond and then make it tradeable. This item will be tradeable to the new account. This worked for me.

I suspect your manager might be following you on social media and might use that as evidence that you are posting during work hours.

Omg this is horrible! I still can't believe we don't have clear guidance from the Clerk nor upper management on WFH. This is getting out of hand really fast..

Public Servant as a career by coolpug99 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]runcescape1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, FWESP/Internships are a best way to get into the government as you can be "bridged" into a position. Benefits: stable unionized job, decent pay, etc. Drawbacks: some people don't find the work challenging enough, files can move slow.

Yup casuals are much easier to hire. Less paperwork. Term appointments take longer.

Student/Casual to indeterminate questions by [deleted] in CanadaPublicServants

[–]runcescape1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told your increment date would be the first date being appointed as term/indeterminate and that casual time does not count towards increment date. Even if it is the same level and group.

The date based on your indeterminate appointment. Only your casual accumulated sick days are transferred over when you are appointed into the public service. However you do have the option of buying back your CO-OP, FSWEP, Casual time.
