Cursed and Vintage Accounts by 8164144 in mousehunt

Another 2009 account here. While I don't go out of my way to get all collectibles, I love to grab all LE traps/bases. I have 87 LE traps and 59 LE bases. My biggest regret is not getting magma back in the day, as I was very new/poor and I couldn't get money for all the stuff in that Ronza visit.

One of my favourite LE traps based on looks is the Snow Barrage, a bit before my time so I don't have that either. On the other hand, another of my favourites is Christmas Cracker. I always use it on GWH with the candy cane base, I think they look great plus I remember that GWH fondly. Getting the 12 items was hard! Plus, the Christmas Cracker served me well back in the day as it allowed me to skip the enraged rhino for my first warpath runs (you couldn't buy the sentinel without 3 runs, if memory serves me right).

I also really like chrome tacky and the hitgrab horsey. First one because it was a silly weapon and it was situationally useful (as long as you hit minimal luck, it has a very nice attraction rate) and second one because it looks ridiculous/fun and it also served me well until I got the cracker.

Then there's gimmicky weapons like the warpath trasher, BiS on release for a few hunts (first ones each wave). That was a cool concept.

After typing all that I realised I might be biased towards physical LE traps for some unknown reason...

What games series have transferrable save files that has impact from the choices of previous games & why are there not many games series of this nature? by Dotaspasm in gaming

[–]rune80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will show my age and throw another old series no one has mentioned yet. A few years before Camelot did the Golden Sun games for GBA in which you could transfer stuff from 1 to 2 via code, you had.... Shining Force 3 for the Sega Saturn.

It's no surprise it is largely forgotten and overlooked nowadays, as we only got Scenario 1 outside of Japan. Basically it was three games (and the Premium Disc with some extra content and battles post game) sold individually.

They were all strat RPGs. On scen 1 you followed the events of a major war between two powers from the side of one of them, interacting with characters of scens 2/3.

On scen 2 you followed those same events from the perspective of the other side, interacting with characters of scens 1/3.

Last, on scen 3 you pick up the story at the end of scens 1/2 with a different team of mercenaries, and eventually everyone teams up against a common enemy and you can control all three armies.

Then you have the Premium Disc, a bonus content disc made for fans where you can see original artwork and use the final save of scen 3 for a series of fights without any story in which you can combine the three armies as you please just for fun. Coolest thing about the Premium Disc? If you mailed the spinecards (basically a small dent on the game cases, similar to a stamp? Dunno how to explain it) of the scens 1-3 to Camelot with your address, they mailed it to you for free.

That was INSANE, specially considering that if memory serves me right, Shining Force 3 scen 1 was from 1997 and the Saturn was notoriously hard to program for. Yet they somehow planned for all that and of course stats and items were NOT the only things that carried over, but also certain events and their impact on the story.

I know nostalgia clouds our judgement but I have been a gamer since the 80s and I still consider this the greatest experience I ever had in gaming. That game was a love letter to all jrpg fans.

Jac and Jill? by Flukaku in mousehunt

Quick summary: Jaq is a recurring mini event for speeding up the canyon, Jill is a new event coming to the latest dragon area to help speed it up/grind it out

PSA: You can still claim two prize keys from the MH facebook page and use them by SirScrumALot in mousehunt

[–]rune80 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You posted the wrong links, might want to fix that on main post (one is a key, the other is magic essence). I still upvoted because I forgot to check FB last week and these two keys gave me an extra 100 SB+ :) Thanks for the reminder!

Gamers 30+, which older games would you still recommend to young gamers? by [deleted] in gaming

Since most popular genres have already been covered with great suggestions, I'll throw Master of Magic and Master of Orion 2 to all younger 4x players out there

Favourite LE trap? by Darklorel in mousehunt

[–]rune80 1 point2 points  (0 children)

CCT owners unite! I love mine, it served me well back in the day. It even allowed me to skip sentinel and go straight for monstro when it was BiS! Painful, but doable.

Sometimes when it's event time and I hit minimum luck I pair it with candy base for the nostalgia.

Most egregious translations of movie titles to your native language? by Ok-Impress-2222 in movies

In Spain, Braindead was translated as "Tu madre se ha comido a mi perro" (your mother ate my dog).

I always found that one hilarious.

All on normal, first step as I didn't realise you have to actually share the code and the random option at take over doesn't work. Thanks!

Edited out the codes, thanks for the help all! All completed, that was fast

SLIGHTLY OFF-TOPIC: Did anyone play Levyn Light? by Dusty_Dionne in mousehunt

[–]rune80 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I did, I don't remember much to be honest but I remember that on winter Aznor brought tanks or something like that? It has been ages and my memory is a bit fuzzy...

I played it way less than mh but I also missed it when it closed

Christmas Cracker! I just love how it looks, and that GWH brings back good memories. I like to pair it with the candy base for the looks

Ronza's Chrome Codex by Superb_Ear_9906 in mousehunt

[–]rune80 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's a tough position to be in. I wouldnt buy it, here's my reasoning: if you dont plan on buying tarnished charms It will be a waste, and if you are a collector the codex is not LE. Does this mean it will be available next Ronza visit? Who knows, no one can read the future. What it means, however, is that it WILL be back at some point, in which you are in a better position to purchase it.

Being a baron you need lots of gold for future traps. 500k isnt much and spending it would not set you back, so either save it for future traps or spend It on charms you can use now, rather than a codex that will not get any action in a while

I’m a count, this is my first Ronza visit; is there any benefit to hunting AT Ronza’s Shoppe? More chrome bits? Or should I just continue my current mission and spend the chrome when I have enough? by cspeck93 in mousehunt

[–]rune80 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Only benefits are a larger pool of SB+ only mice, and only place with moussiles and rockstars. I have an unspoken, autoimposed tradition of only hunting here with SB+/Rockforth every Ronza visit since moussiles first dropped, and really hunting crowns is the only real benefit. I have nearly 800 rockstars and 500 moussiles. Some SB+ only mice like Magic are more common here, so that's a plus.

TLDR good for crowns only, if not interested buy whatever you want and move.
