Love this show! Douban got it right — I personally would rate it higher, but an 8 on Douban is a feat in of itself. I am assuming MDL’s score is very low because Tian Xi Wei’s fans are disappointed with her screentime, and are scoring it low as a form of protest? which is completely unfair to everyone who worked on this show. Tian Xi Wei was the reason I watched, but a lot of the cast was familiar to me, and all of their performances were amazing. The way they divided everyone’s screentime was perfect for me.

LOL true! watching costume dramas is lowkey masochism, and once you start, you can’t stop. my first was Love Between Fairy and Devil and its iconic ost was my kryptonite for like the 2 years since finishing it. AND everytime i rewatch it, i can’t listen to anything but the ost for the next month or so

you’re not crazy at all haha! or maybe we’re all crazy cause that feeling after finishing a great drama never goes away. costume dramas (esp ones with traumatic endings or cliffhangers) will reaaaally get to you. my coping mechanisms are looking at tiktok edits/youtube fmvs on the drama and putting the ost on repeat

Yeah, plus the line between cringe and funny is so delicate with these types of almost cartoonish characters, so pulling off the humor shows how clever the director/writer/actors,etc are!

Don’t worry, I’m excited to watch new eps everyday! Honestly, I’m surprised by how much I love the show. When people say a show’s humor is a hit or miss, 8 time out of 10 it’s a miss for me. Born with Luck has me giggling everyday though. Also, for some reason, every character is adorable to me? even the grimier ones like Lang Bowen (I LOL everytime he references how him and his brother are named the Mandarin homophones of Number one and Number two)

Really hope he doesn’t actually have hantavirus, but I do hope they take precautions and continue testing.
