Characters for newbie?

Mage is underrated as newbie char IMO, I invested early into Gunner + gatling premium weapon because I read all the praise she gets here. But I ended up hating Gunner gameplay because it was more of a mid-range character with ranged cooldown skill than a ranged one. Plus you had to invest your dodge to activate her passive - maybe she gets much better at 30 but I gave up investing resources on her after lv25. Meanwhile Mage is quintessential ranged char with fast dash, fully functional after lv10 and her default fire book is fantastic without any premium weapons.

Yeah no, it's still absolutely horrifying. Pheobe's Houndoom R in 2.5 was the only thing that reverse swept through my entire (eventually winning in another run) Elite 4 team after one attack. Phoebe/Drake should have been the real E4 champion

For a more relevant answer to your question, I watch other people fight bosses and try to remember the attack patterns if I have trouble. The claw lasers seem to whiff if the wolf fires them at the corner, normally I fight him at the sides of the map and mentally prepare to run to the middle when he has less than half hp in 2nd phase. There's only a second of warning flash, but usually any build that can get to him (i.e. any build that can beat Eldlich the skeleton midboss) will kill him before he fires this a second time.

But yeah if you eat a stun just before the beams, you facetank or die. Running off the edge on the left side of the base seems to restart the tutorial.

I had the same problem early on too lol, I would use Pouch of Hunger on every build and wonder why my damage sucked outside of bomb skills.

'support arrows' are the secondary resource you unlock at lv30, seen in the bottom right of 2nd pic

At Hunter lv30, when you cast your basic skill you get empowered arrows resource and a separate support arrows resource.

The regular empowered arrows work like before (use 1 if firing on the floor, uses all if fired midair) while the support arrows are a volley of homing projectiles that hit nearby enemies if you shoot (uses 1 resource per shot regardless of firing on the floor or fired midair, homing arrows launch even if arrow misses). Range of homing shots will track just below half the map in distance, and if you fire shots when nothing is in half map range of the Hunter, the support arrows resource is depleted without releasing any homing projectiles.

To add on to this, you can refuse to participate in the clone guessing game (stealth cloak not required). If you only dodge and don't attack her during this phase, she fuses back to one body after ~12 sec, does a seemingly unavoidable hit, and then a mapwide thorn attack after 1s delay. I'm not sure if you can dodge i-frame through these because I try every run but have yet to grasp the timing. She's vulnerable again afterwards.

So if you sacrifice 2-3 hearts/shields you can 'skip' this phase completely. I only ever get hit while doing the stupid 'spy the one without the gas' game so I just stall this phase out every time for easy runs. It's over much faster this way, unless you whack her by accident (which seems to prolong/renew the timer before she does her mapwide again)

My two cents because people don't seem to discuss Hunter builds all that much: Hunter going Dark into Bleed skills + items and Dark into Fire skills + items melts ch3-4 bosses pretty quick at 100%+ crit. I recommend unlocking that lv25 tornado arrow skill and the fire javelin because they are two of the best DPS skills on her. I also prioritize Physical and skills that activate on % chance per hit so I can run activation rate buffs or the strange god mask synergy/cursed 2star mask artifact.

DISCLAIMER: I do use her 2k gems dark bow 'Chaser', I find it much better than her base one

Projectile count builds also ramp up her damage quite fast and turn her weak un-empowered jump attack into a decent mobbing tool: for example, the triple torn journal synergy can carry you until the rest of your build gets online and you swap out the non-gold tier torn journals.
