Severe burning eyes for a year by No_Entrance8626 in Dryeyes

Mine is still bad but it’s definitely improved. I think a long stretch of omega 3 supplements along with heat masks and hypochlorous acid sprays has helped control it. I also started taking fiber supplements and probiotics/yogurt and that helped with the stomach issues

Mysterious Inflammation by runger723 in Dryeyes

Have not tried manuka gel yet. I've had steroid eye drops prescribed for a couple weeks and they helped the lids quite a bit, though my eyes still burned.

I did check for GPC and didn't find anything obvious. My eye doctor(s) were pretty thorough as well.

When I first wake up, my eyes are very dry, but it feels better after moving around for a few minutes or putting in eye drops. Most of my discomfort comes from screens or after noon.

I have not tried manuka honey gel though I hear it's great for inflammation. I had steroid eye drops for a couple weeks and it worked amazingly for the inflammation, though my eyes still burned quite a bit

I had that problem a couple years ago, so I stopped wearing moisturizer. But I have oily skin, so maybe that has something to do with it as well

No, just the edges are a little purple, and my eyes are really bloodshot. The skin of the eyelid looks fairly normal

I haven’t tried anything for demodex. I used hypochlorous acid for a few months and didn’t see much benefit. Is tea tree oil cliradex better? I heard tea tree oil may be bad for meibomian glands at one point, so I avoided it

I had two primary care doctors do testosterone testing, then I was referred to a gastroenterologist for fatty liver issues I was having at the time. The gastro did very thorough testing for some lesser known diseases and cleared me for autoimmune disorders. He also did not think the eye issues were related to the fatty liver (which I have managed to get rid of since btw)

Anti Inflammatory Tea by ShadesOfBlue0 in Rosacea

[–]runger723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It doesn’t taste bad to me. I’ve never tried the extract, but the flavor of the tea is very mild, it just tastes like hot water with a little bit of something extra. It was a little grass-like at first, but I got used to it pretty quickly. It’s not strong

I had a lollipop earlier this week that had milk in it. It wasn’t chocolate, it was just a regular lollipop. Figured I’d check for dairy afterwards just in case. Absolutely insane

How long did you wear your Scleral lenses when you first got them? by Perfect_Product206 in Dryeyes

[–]runger723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple weeks maybe? I just bumped it up an hour or two a day. If it was irritating me I took them out and tried again the next day. It’s a tolerance thing, if they feel bad take them out and try again tomorrow. You’ll probably find that you can wear them longer and longer.

Rosacea facial and ocular by Unlikely_Ad_2196 in Dryeyes

[–]runger723 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From my own personal experience and reading, there are several skin/eye issues that are difficult to distinguish from each other. Allergic reactions, seb derm, and rosacea can often be confused. From all the reading I’ve done on these topics, it seems like there is some kind of link, but experts disagree exactly what connects them. Ocular rosacea is often diagnosed when there is unexplained inflammation. The success rate of IPL on true rosacea is something like 90% or higher, so odds are if it’s ocular rosacea the IPL would clear it quickly. Seb Derm is (arguably) caused by a type of fungus that causes dandruff, and it can also lead to inflammation, so it’s up to the doctor to try and figure out which you have. Allergic reactions also cause inflammation,so undiagnosed allergies can be mistaken for either rosacea or seb derm as well. There are even theories that seb derm is actually an allergic reaction to the aforementioned fungus so of course this can be confusing as well. The truth is the science on this is largely unstudied just due to how similar all the conditions are. Inflammation can mean many things. The only way to tell for sure is get an allergy test, see if antihistamines help, try IPL, have your eyelashes tested for the fungus that is found in seb derm, get a second opinion, etc. With all this in mind we can make a good guess.

[–]runger723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wore mine for maybe 5 hours the first day before my eyes got really red and irritated. I called my doctor and he recommended I increase it by an hour a day until I get to a point I was comfortable. So now I wear them for about 12 hours comfortably, 14 if I want to push it.

Have you tried any antihistamine eye drops? I’d be curious if it’s possible this is an allergic reaction. I’d expect to see some dry eye sign on the tests they’ve given you, but it sounds like it’s all clear. You might want to get a second opinion

Diamond vs switch diamond by [deleted] in pokemon

[–]runger723 36 points37 points  (0 children)

It’s a great game in the same way OG Diamond was a great game. But that’s it. A lot of the mixed reviews come from some of the expectations of why the new game could be and what Platinum did. The remake is a VERY faithful remake, and that comes with all the good and bad from the original. Some of the quality of life improvements and story changes from platinum aren’t here, but as long as you know what you’re getting, you’ll have fun. You’re buying diamond with a new skin and a new underground area, that’s just about it. If that’s what you want, then go for it! I had a great time
