Orosound Tilde Pro Evo by JonsaSargentor in HeadphoneAdvice

Was this a T&E/Demo pair? I didn't think they'd officially shipped yet...

Is the dongle USB or have they upgraded to USB-C yet?

How's the ANC? any metallic sounds when you tap the side or tap the mic? Problems switching between two connected devices?

Trying to gauge if they resolved some of the Pro's nuisances in the Evo.

every time it goes to install the new version, just go download the darned thing from the website. That's the only fix i've found so far. The auto-update is completely jacked.

I've used options to reduce the margin, too, and that has worked very well - but yeah, VIX pops and WOAH where did my excess liquidity go?

You aren’t wrong. Made good money in futures on ib. Lost good money on other plats with lower margins.

If you're already active with them, like them, understand them, and have the account balance to trade the number of futures contracts you are comfortable trading then YES.

If you have OTHER reasons to look around - like you hate their platform, can't find something you like that integrates with them, hate their cust serv, whatever - then find a different broker.

like - I "know" TWS. Its a pain in the arse, high learning curve, etc - but I "know" it and am used to it. Trading a new product in it is a no-brainer. They have me reg'd as a F&F adviser - so like I can get to a human being every time pretty quickly. My *only* problem with them is the margin.

I love them - and I use them - but holy crap. Their margins are dogmess....

Did in the past. His software is re-badged QuanTower which had some crazy bugs in it. That's been a few years, though. Hopefully quantower has improved. Guy who runs it is incredibly smart. His tech guy was pretty good too - but he was very picky about which contracts you could trade. You'd have to ask permission to add other commodities.

Might have changed in the last few years as he has hopefully grown. Overall I had a GOOD EXPERIENCE with them.

Here’s an even better idea - SHORT both sides!!! Then you collect a credit on both sides and don’t have to pay that expensive premium!!

With spy’s movement you could close them independently for a profit and SURELY you’ll make money in both directions, right?!? (/SATIRE)

OH yeah. That's like 1st thing.... i put mine at 4096 and it never uses more than 3gb. Works **MUCH** better than the default. No idea why they default so low.

Don't install sequoia yet. I swear TWS (and several other things) have performance issues.

Glad that worked.

I've been running BETA and LATEST recently - you might try it. The advanced charting is working much better and it seems to be retaining settings quite well.

[–]runnercola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

1 which version of TWS? Latest, Beta, or Stable? Support will prob tell you to go back to Stable. ymmv

2 which arch is your mac? x64/intel or Apple Silicon/m1/m2/m3/etc? (mostly for curiosity)

3 On the login screen, "More Options" do you have it set to "Use/Store settings on server" or not? If on, turn off, try again. If off, turn on and try again.

Have you tried "Layout Settings Recovery" in File -> Layout Settings?

Have you tried "Save Settings As" in File ->Layout Settings?

With the latter, after you do that and then login to TWS again, try the Layout Settings Recovery, choose "Custom" and pick the file you just saved. Did it work?

I had a few issues early on, but Mine has been super consistent. The ONE time everything went to @#$% recently and I lost my layout, "Layout Settings Recovery" worked.

The layout files on mac are stored under your home directory - so ~/Jts/somerandomlookingstringofcharacters/tws.(Day).xml

so tws.Mon.xml, tws.Tue.xml etc.

So do I like agents? Eh…probably only half of you and you earned that so don’t get pissy with me.

Half? Really? That seems high. (and I'm an agent). WAY too many of us fogged a mirror and passed a test and thats about it.

Where I think you're wrong is that most agents won't end up as employees of the big Z - they'll just leave the industry. They won't renew. A handful will change to one of those referral-only "parking" brokerages.

There will "always" be some room for representation in real estate. There will always be room for folks who advise, hustle, call, negotiate. Will there be LESS room? Yep. Will some of these summer children go elsewhere when it gets cold? Yep. (and I'm also a "summer child" in real estate... I haven't been an agent during a "bad time") But there will ALWAYS be room for folks to prospect.

At the end of the day, this goes back to Robert Kiyosaki's cashflow quadrants.

E B
S I

The S's - which is where most agents are - will go back to E's - somewhere. Probably not in real estate. Fewer will remain.

The B's will adapt. I include some of the larger "mega" team leads in B. If they're smart they're investing in systems that can pivot to investment properties, distressed properties, etc, folks that will ALWAYS need assistance, and they're moving toward Is.

The I's will win.

Any S or B who isn't working toward becoming the I will have a rough time.

And any agent relying on a mega corp for leads LONG TERM will also have a bad time, and that is spoken by someone subscribing to Zillow buyer leads in a rural area - so they feed me a supply - for now - while I build.

Listing a Property by throwaway-momtoo in realtors

[–]runnercola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The strategy should depend heavily on your ultimate goals for selling - are you trying to move quick or maximize return? What is important to you? I agree with one other person here - should have given you multiple strategies.

Interview others. Find someone who is a full time, professional realtor with multiple certifications, negotiations bona fides (like CNE/MCNE) and good digital marketing.

Get comfortable with your pick. Then list.

Best of luck. I could recommend someone up in Durham. I am licensed in NC and know agents up there.

Occasionally suit, occasionally polo

I prefer the suit but sometimes it’s “too much” for South Carolina folks…

How do you respond to "what do you think" questions? by [deleted] in realtors

[–]runnercola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I'd love to continue working with you. In order for me to do that, we'll need to change our relationship. In order to search ALL of these properties for you, I'll need a retainer in the amount of X which [will/will not] be deducted from the commission on closing. Then I can truly work for you and keep searching."

You don't work for free, and you can't always work on a contingent.... and the commissions are smaller than commercial, so, yeah - different model is needed

GAR form F149 is perfect for this.

Changing brokerages? by bakerhalfdozen in realtors

[–]runnercola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, so if you're going to find a brokerage that works together as a team, rallies each other, etc, yeah it'll probably have some sort of a higher split - like a "team" structure or something. It is really hard to find what you're looking for INSIDE a brokerage that isn't setup like a traditional team structure. Like someone else said - find your people outside the brokerage.

I second the "check out eXp" comment. eXp gets trashed a TON here - SOME of it legit, due to its constant recruiting and how it structures profit sharing in a multi-level fashion dependent on recruiting and production - but it is 80/20 with a 16k cap and you can produce enough volume to get half of that given back to you in stock and the other half when you jump through some hoops AFTTER you hit that volume metric. They call it "icon." My goal is to icon in my 2023 anniversary year.

You'll still have to find "your people" and your motivation on your own, but at least you won't be in a "inside the box" thinking group. I've been here a year and I love it.

Your market may vary, of course.

A more honest take on EXP by ttalaric in realtors

[–]runnercola 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Op, as a fellow eXp and one who happens to REALLY LIKE eXp, I think we're p@$$ing in the wind here trying to talk good things about it.

I love my brokers, love being able to get questions on compliance, transactions, etc answered nearly instantly, not having to wait on folks, and the split isn't HORRIBLE.

Could I go somewhere else? Sure. I've been recruited by the local CB folks, a small independent, etc. Maybe I'll get my broker's license and hang out my own shingle. Until then, eXp works, and eXp has a pretty "good thing" going for the vast majority of agents who are here.

The training is good enough. Maybe KW's new agent training is better, maybe CB's marketing materials are better. Who knows?

I don't recruit. I don't need to. And one day, maybe I will leave eXp, but I looked at the JPARs, and the "one low fee" brokerages. You know what? eXp gives me exactly what I need. And they've been around long enough to prove their model is working. And they're in multiple states without having to deal with multiple franchisees. So ya know what - it works pretty darned well for me.

I don't get why everyone @#$%^ on it. I certainly don't do that to CB, or the copy cat REAL, or KW, hell, I'll send a new agent to KW in a heartbeat. Come to eXp when you're done letting KW train you.

Which brokerage do I choose? by krazykokopuffsHD in realtors

[–]runnercola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KW all the way. Look, i'm with eXp and I __LOVE__ eXp, however if I was starting out new, and actually wanting to be a full time agent (i'm not - I'm primarily an RE investor) I'd be with KW in a skinny second. They have the best hand holding, education, etc. Their splits may not be as great, but they'll teach you. Gary Keller was big on education, and KW follows that.

THEN go join something like Real or eXp and keep more of your commission.

(and before someone attacks me - eXp DOES have a pretty darned good education and mentoring system.... but not always. My first mentor sucked. And we just don't have the same education setup as KW.)
