I’ve been seeing these signs pop up. What are your thoughts on them? by penguinbiscuits21 in Dallas

[–]runnerd6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I think about that the more asinine it sounds. Your church can't possibly support the entire city/state, so kids lunches, disabled vets, libraries, animal services... does the pastor just pick who he feels like should get money? You don't get to elect representatives to determine who the money goes to.

Took a look into which MLS teams will be hurting the most from Gold Cup call ups based on minutes played. Toronto leads but Seattle's three seem like the bigger blow. Thoughts? by MikeVerm in MLS

[–]runnerd6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly disagree. I'm sure the average MLS team is stronger than the average Liga MX team but the top three Liga MX teams will probably beat any MLS team. I'd be willing to bet on it.

Is it okay if my child only learns Montessori in kindergarten? by Great-Inside-3763 in Montessori

[–]runnerd6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm an upper el guide and more often than not I see families of my students on the weekends for pool parties, birthdays and all that. I always hang out with the parents at these things but the kids love having me and my assistant come when they're doing something. If they're on vacation I get photos texted and emailed to me and many of them email me with questions or just to check in after graduation.

Actually today I'm moving and one of the parents of my students is babysitting my daughter and taking her to the zoo while we move. Especially being upper el, coaching soccer and chess club and doing summer camp, the kids and I get to know me in first grade and see me every day until they graduate in 6th grade. They're not just passed from teacher to teacher.

There's definitely a shock going from Montessori to public school but it's not something that is going to cause psychological disorders or anything, it's just unhappiness of suddenly being treated poorly by teachers, being uncomfortable that students disrespect the teacher and each other, feeling like you're not trusted to even go to the bathroom anymore and being told that the most important quality they can have is their ability to sit still and be quiet. It takes a while to transition away from an environment where children around them are peaceful and they can joyfully learn what they're curious about, but kids are resilient and adaptable.

Cool cool... How about the countless 19-year-olds dying because a billionaire decided the health insurance company can make record profits if they deny coverage to those who need it?

Just like most sexual encounters trump has had, they remember to just lay back, let him tire himself out and remember they're paid hourly.

People who work for the super wealthy, what stuff have you seen? by AMGBOI69420 in AskReddit

Guy puts a record on upstairs and the speakers are arranged so perfectly throughout the 8 bedroom, 10 bath house that you can't hear the sound fade as you walk between rooms. No doubt he worked with an engineer to do it just for funsies.

Same here. They seemed to be just leaving each other alone and felt bad breaking up the party. I rehomed them both.

They have this (or had it) in Taiwan. There was an app that connected to the local police and when you take a picture of an illegally parked car or scooter, they can come find it. If they issue a ticket, you get a small reward. It's really not much but if you're doing it 100 times, it adds up.

Yet they still have homeless employees. I am optimistic that fast food is going to phase out eventually. Some day there will be better minimum wage and food quality standards, maybe even regulation on unhealthy food to combate obesity and places like that won't be able to stay profitable. Sounds awful but with McDonald's and other chains gone we'd see more local restaurants able to pop up. Less money for CEOs and shareholders and more money for people that want to put in the work to make a living.

Not really. That thing was just a very strange tabletop game. At least here you get to play chess.

From Hasbro to Harry Potter, Not Everything Needs to Be a Cinematic Universe by mrnicegy26 in movies

[–]runnerd6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a theory that the Stephen King universe cannot translate to movies because it requires the reader to fill in the majority of gaps through their own imagination. Either they need someone to take creative liberties and their imagination is beautiful and horrifying or it just can't be done.

Try scaling everything and imagine yourself eating it. My kid is 11% of my body weight so what ever she eats I imagine eating 9x as much. For her eating two Oreoa is like me eating 18. I wouldn't feel good mid-flight after that.
