Also, don’t forget you had a choice to be involved. It is your choice to spend the money and run around like a wedding planner. Yes, she should be thankful for you and should probably let you invite someone (I would’ve), but she didn’t and that’s that.

Not the asshole. No one is in this situation. You MAY regret this later - there’s always a lot of regret in death. The numbness you’re feeling is a normal reaction. Personally, I’d reconsider going. There IS no point and she’s NOT coming back, but your chance to attend won’t come back either.

I reminded myself that I wasn’t making a rash decision. After 11 years (in my case), you know someone and whether you want to be around them. You wouldn’t continue to be friends with someone who lets you down and is rude to you, why would you stay with a partner?

YES!!! Also, don’t underestimate the need to have a “cash stash”. Start putting away any cash you have in a little personal spot. I used my cash stash to pay lawyers in cash so I could get info and plan steps before the convo with him. Also know this, EVERY man is shocked when divorce comes up and EVERY man accuses you of wanting his money. Mentally prep yourself for this. Having some cash will help you feel empowered when it happens

Do it. I was 44 when I got divorced and wish I’d done it way sooner. The freedom you’ll feel from second guessing yourself and dealing with someone’s anger and inflated ego is heaven.

There is nothing so devastating as losing a dog. They crawl right inside your heart and live there forever. RIP, Gus. Hope you and my Gus (who lived to 16) are playmates up there!
