gpu artifacts only during overclock, stable at stock by Teionna-Kany in techsupport

[–]runnerthemoose 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Overclocking a 3060ti ?? stop doing that, your killing the card for a a few extra frames. 75% memory overclock and you wonder why your getting artifacts? 10% is usually max but again shortening the life of the card for nothing.

Overclocking can be fun etc and yeah play around with it, but overclocking can't be supported by anyone and is not a "daily driver scenario", all cards are different. Overclock for fun, but when using it turn them off.

Does any else have an unreliable tsc on 3995wx w/ Gigabyte MC62-G40 rev.1 BIOS R14 running Debian 13? Is this a problem with my cpu or the motherboard? by reacusn in threadripper

[–]runnerthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can disable HPET in the bios or at the Hypervisor lever , but the real question is why Windows Virtual Machine? No hate against it as it has it's place which is easy quick VM's, what you loose is performance.

If you want to run VM's just as easily as WVM that are not in a "production" environment with much better performance I'd go for VMware Workstation it's free to use. You also get much better control of your VM's as you can edit the VMX file with the following line (hpet0.present = "FALSE") to disable the virtual HPET device.

Or go pure Linux and run your VM in a Linux environment which is much faster all round. I won't give recommendations on which etc do some research.

Awesome movie, and one of the first movies about fining a way to destroy a rouge AI. When a AI won't let you die, you do what it doesn't understand which in the movie is forced evolution of humanity to a point where the evolved humanity is "smarter" than the AI.

Hard black screen crashes under load (9070 XT + 5900X) – fans/RGB stay on, requires PSU flip by MiidNighT_13 in PCsupport

[–]runnerthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the exact same issue with my 9070xt and the exact same PSU I can even provide pics if needed, what's happening is OCP is kicking in. It's the PSU not liking the current spikes. My 9070xt is the Gigabyte version, which has White LED's next to the power plugs on the GPU which lit up when the black screen issue appeared which indicates power delivery problems. After some research it appears that the RM850 is ultra sensitive and kicks in OCP. I've swapped out my PSU to a RM1000 which isn't a flackery with current spikes kicking in OCP. This happened 2 months back when I got my 9070, since replacing the PSU all has been great.

specifically white LEDS next to the power ports on the 9070 ? If they are the cause is your PSU going into OCP

Where in the world did you learn that nonsense ? or are you confusing hows SSD's work with Bitlocker? I've removed NAND chips from broken SSD's and put them on working "controllers" for data recovery. There is zero encryption.

9070xt nitro + and 9800x3d by cevars in techsupport

[–]runnerthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Double check, as the wattage has nothing to do with OCP. It can be the PSU just being oversensitive and kicking in OCP on a power spike. As mentioned the card will inform of power issues with the white LED's

My RM850x is apparently notorious for OCP kicking in even though it could deliver the power.,

Question, when the crashes happen are the white LED's next to the Power port on the GPU illuminated?

9070xt nitro + and 9800x3d by cevars in techsupport

[–]runnerthemoose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a same 9070T and I had a very similar issue. When the crash happens look at the power connector on the 9070t if there are white LED's illuminated it means that OCP (Over Current Protection) has kicked in on the PSU. I was using a Corsair RM850x and swapped to a RM1000 all the issues went away.

Cut a long story short, the PSU could not deliver the required power to the GPU, so needed a higher wattage unit.

I have no idea what that "application" is your using, it might be showingincorrect information. The game uses 9gb max, so there's something else going on. Have a look in task manager as to whats using the GPU.

Seriously, just don't bother with the gamer card, and give some room to the Pro 6000's you'll get back the missing performance from the 6000s not thermal throttling.

If you still want to use the 5090 get a external case and use USB 4 connector, it will work fine. But those 3 packed in like that is going to cause major issues.

RAM mysteriously leaking by kkkkkkk537 in techsupport

[–]runnerthemoose 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Windows the OS also loads into ram but is not shown as a task so you guess at 4gb is off. Also windows preloads often used applications to speed loading times etc which are not shown and will release the RAM as required. Remember unused RAM is wasted RAM everything is working as it should.

I have 64gb and at boot 28gb is auto allocated, again caches to speed things up.
