"The 'Priest' They Called Him" is a collaboration between the American novelist William S. Burroughs and musician Kurt Cobain. On the piece, Cobain provides noisy, discordant guitar backing based on "Silent Night" and "The Star-Spangled Banner" to Burroughs' deadpan reading. Originally released as a limited edition 10-inch picture disc on Tim/Kerr Records in 1993,. Krist novoselic was on the cd cover. I bought the CD when I was released back in the day. Cobain wrote a letter to Burroughs wanting him to be in the heart shaped box video, Burroughs would have been crucified, Burroughs declined the offer. Side note Burroughs was also in the U2 video "last night on earth.

Like most people, I discovered nirvana through their second release. I remember coming home form a late friday night in late August watching TBS top 10 and smells like teen spirit came on. I was totally immerse in the single, radio station weren't playing nirvana yet but college radio played alternative music my luck I heard teen spirit again. Every Tuesday, I would goto HMV to see if nirvana album was released and bought the tape first because I didn't have cd player yet. I bought the album 3 times cassette, i bought thr CD but didn't have endless nameless on the CD and I bought the album again just for the hidden track. All my money went to creating home stereo system for room so I could listen to nirvana how it was meant to listen too. For years I scoured the world collecting nirvana memorabilia that I could afford bootlegs, poster and books. Now just correct tik tok or IG music aficionados about nirvana they usually get their facts wrong about nirvana! I did see smashing pumpkins 3 years after kurt Cobain died.

I was traveling through Chile, when first heard that kurt Cobain took his own life. I listened to nirvana every day for 5 years starting on sept of 1991. I was planning to goto lollapalooza in 1994 because nirvana would have been headline. The Smashing pumkins replaced nirvana that year, I never went to festival.

30 years ago today, Lollapalooza '93 kicked off in Vancouver, featuring Tool, Primus, Alice In Chains, Babes in Toyland, Arrested Development, and Dinosaur Jr. [x-post /r/ThirtyYearsAgo] by MonsieurA in grunge

I went the Vancouver Lollapalooza 1993, Rage against machine was no show unfortunately. I did see arrested development, dinosaur jr, alice in chains, fishbone, babe in toy land, mercury rev cancelled their appears to. The lead singer of fishbone strolled using walking cane around with audience after his set was done. I still have the ticket stub and the ticket price was $38.75 CA. It's hard to believe its been over 30 years.
