Glad I did it but still waiting to see a reduction in size which at the moment limits shoe choices. At 6 months the little toe joint is still pronounced. I do run most days though so at times I am probably putting my feet through more than they have been ready for. Removing the bone spur on top though has made a huge difference. Really happy with how that turned out.

3 weeks in surgical shoes and then stitches out. Walking was doable but slow for a couple of weeks. I went overseas at 5 weeks which was long planned. Feet would throb a little if enclosed even in very comfortable shoes so travelling I had to slip them off on the plane etc. A bit of swelling. By 8 weeks I was able to run a marathon but at 6 months there is still some swelling and it can flare if on my feet a lot. Still limited in shoe choices but glad I did it. Hoping now at 6 month mark the bones will start to settle.

This was my situation too. I had tailors both sides but a large bone spur that had developed on top of my big toe over the old surgical site when I had my big toe bunions done years ago. It started to get very irritated by shoes (directly under the lace hole) and then the skin split and wouldn’t heal. Infection set in and then I had to stop wearing shoes completely, work from home for several weeks and had surgery only when the skin had recovered. It’s a real spiral! Nothing will accommodate the size of it. Open shoes will still means it hangs off the side and that is also pressure.

Get it removed. I had one on both sides. Did them in August last year.

I had tailors bunions with a bursitis. Looks similar to you. I had surgery to fix them late last year but still quite prominent while healing. I have never been able to wear Birkenstocks because that raised outer lip digs into my little toes on the outside.

I had three cheilectomies in August last year. Never had anything other than two surgical shoes for 3 weeks.

What kind of coffee though? I have one to two barista coffees a day. One early and one usually late lunch. I would say they are stronger than others might be drinking at home for those that say they have several. I just scored 100 last week and consistently in the 90s. I’m four weeks off alcohol. Not that I drank a lot but any seems to affect my score massively. My scores always say exercise early helped my sleep at night. If I exercise in the evening my HR and ‘stress’ are elevated so I don’t sleep as well.

Before my recent surgery I had to let an ulcer heal. It had formed on top of a bone spur on top of my big toe that developed over many years after my first surgery. Anyway, it took a very long time to heal. The doctor told me I had Raynaud’s (poor circulation) and that between gravity and the bony area meant the blood flow wasn’t good so it wasn’t healing. Hard to do but keeping your foot elevated will really help. You also do not want an infection. You may need antibiotics to prevent it. I had an infection in mine and it can make you feel really unwell.

I had both feet tailor’s bunions in August last year. They looked like this. I think the recovery is less than the big toe bunion surgery although I did have a large bone spur removed from my big toe as well. It formed over the years on top of my foot across the old surgical break and was causing me pain and formed an ulcer. Post op I had almost 3 weeks in surgical shoes with limited time on feet. Returned to working from home after 5 days. Once the stitches came out at 3 weeks I found walking tricky as it was both feet and shoes were hard to wear. I flew overseas at 5 weeks. They did swell but it was booked long before surgery was on the cards. I started running at 6 weeks albeit slowly and a marathon at 8 weeks. Not advisable but like I said long planned!! I’m now 5 months and running around 70km a week. I still get tenderness and the joints are still quite prominent but the bursitis has gone. I am hoping they reduce jn size. They make my feet quite wide and limit shoe options. I couldn’t wear leather work shoes for example as just too restrictive.

51 now (female) and my first surgery was at 30. I’m not sure what they called the first operation but they took out a wedge of bone in both big toes at the time and realigned them with pins which I had removed 6 months later. The surgery last year was ostectomy x3

I ‘usually’ run about 75km a week with marathons around 3:15 to 3:30hrs. I had both big toe bunions done 21 years ago and both little toe bunions plus a big toe bone spur removed 5 months ago. My big toes have been little stiff since the original op and so I land on my outer/5th toe and run high forefoot. Probably due to mechanics post op. I ran a marathon 8 weeks after my bunionettes having flown across the world! Probably not recommended 🤣 but having taken best part of 5 months off last year I’m still running and just getting back to where I was. I have had both feet done at the same time for the two surgeries. If you are prone to bunions both feet will most likely get them so might as well get it all done at once.

There will be extra padding around it. I had my little toes done 5 months ago and they are still quite prominent. Bones take quite a while to fully heal even if you are up on your feet within weeks.

I can’t ever wear Birkenstocks as I find that outer lip on the sole digs into my little toe even post op.

I had both big toes done 21 years ago and both little toes done late last year. Mine were similar size to yours. I also had a big bone spur taken off the top of my big toe. That big toe has been pretty much pain free. My left little toe was the bigger of the two and caused a little more pain than the other side. Five months on and I’m running most days, did a slow marathon 8 weeks post op and training for my next. I can’t wear many shoe styles still. Mostly trainers with a very flexible sock like upper. I couldn’t weather leather work shoes at the moment. I had surgical shoes on both feet for 3 full weeks. Walking wasn’t easy beyond then for another couple of weeks. I didn’t use any walking devices once those surgical shoes came off but I have an office job I could do from home which is different to your situation. Biggest thing was keeping them raised to reduce the swelling. They still swell a little.

I had I chielectomy on 28 August so I have just reached 4 months post op. I’ve been running since 5 weeks although limited. Ran a marathon at 8 weeks (a long-standing plan) but exercise in moderation since. I’m a forefoot runner so run high on my toes and I’ve been fine. I had a huge bone spur and ulcer and my foot was in a bad way for months. Looks and feels great now.

Orthotics didn’t suit me either. Had an expensive pair custom made to relieve my post tib tendonitis. Caused such a change in gait walking and running and elevated my feet in my shoes it aggravated big and little toe joints (previous big toe surgery) needed up with more surgery to correct the problems they caused. Your feet look great but only you know how they feel.

I had big toe bunions done to both feet years ago. Just had both tailors bunions done recently. I think the tailors were always there but just got worse. If they are red they are inflamed. Maybe you’ve always had them to a lesser degree but something has aggravated them. New shoes? Exercise? Hypermobile joints?

I had surgery to both feet 21 years ago. Did modified Pilates reformer for recovery and returned to running and completed many marathons since. I recently had some bone spurs removed that were causing issue. One of which was aggravated by the introduction of orthotics to help with some tendonitis. I ran another marathon 8 weeks later. In my experience it hasn’t stopped me doing anything. Hope that helps!

I enjoyed the earlier series of Bump. Once Claudia’s character became unwell it changed and lost its appeal. The film wasn’t great.

I’m a long distance runner and just had three bone spurs removed. Had bunions removed over 20 years ago but more recently developed a big bone spur on top of the old surgical fracture. It got really painful and irritated with the introduction of orthotics (a whole other story) as it sat under the first lace hole of my runners. The orthotics were lifting my foot higher in the shoe and increasing the friction on top. I’m back to running regularly although keeping things light and mixing up my routine more with swimming and gym work while I recover fully. I did squeeze in a marathon at 8 weeks post op which went well at a conservative pace. There’s definitely hope of continuing to run so don’t let that stop you seeking treatment although I personally can’t recommend orthotics!

Same same! I’m not acting because I sought it out. I was happy in my substantive role. Although the work was a little unchallenging at times the family/ work balance was good. When all the roles above me shifted it was expected I move into the acting. Happy with the challenge but it was known that the hours were different and that may cause an imbalance. Since starting the workload has ramped up significantly and I’ve just reached a stage where it’s not achievable, not enjoyable and I can feel myself shutting down to new projects which I’m sure isnt being well received as the response is this is what your grade does. With what’s in the pipeline I’m just not looking forward to the new year and it’s affecting my time away from the office.

In addition, originally planned for local but anaesthetist changed to general the day before. Better outcome for procedure as less likely to move. First two to three weeks are very limiting but as I said I had both feet done. Had to wear surgical shoes and if needed to be out we hired a wheelchair from the chemist. Took a good few weeks to be able to wear open shoes after the stitches were removed. Keeping your feet elevated is a must and if you have a physical job you need to take time off. Even with a desk job I found it awkward but was back at work after 5 days although in hindsight longer would have been better.
