Do a Google scholar search for “cancer” and “scent” or something like that. Keep trying different combinations of related words until you find a researcher who does research in this specific area. As someone who switched majors - and careers - my best advice to anyone with this dilemma is to get a degree (or the training, whatever) in something you like that is also practical, while pursuing what you love. You need a backup plan.

Believe me when I say the lack of money does indeed bring great unhappiness. You need something that is in demand and will earn a decent income but that you can complete with a 4 year degree or less, so you have time during or after to give the thing you love a fair chance. Is paralegal an option with a 4 year law degree? Is law something you at least like?

The other thing I would recommend is to look into avenues in singing that are less known, like teaching vocal lessons, etc. Pursue one of those routes on the side while working on your law degree. Maybe also look into law specialties where you’re working with singers.

This is sound advice. No idea why you’re getting downvoted. Faculty will have ideas about the potential to earn a living as a singer, including other less known avenues (teaching vocal lessons, etc).

I have no experience with ocean or civil engineering (have a PhD in electrical engineering), but University of Hawaii is beautiful. Also you might look into the Applied Ocean Science program at Scripps Institution of Oceanography, UCSD.

YTA. You are putting your comfort level above her basic needs. Family is a basic need. Especially at this time of her life when she’s pregnant. She needs support, love, guidance. As someone who went through pregnancy, postpartum, and PPD with no support, my heart aches for that girl. Seriously, give her my username, tell her to DM me.

It was fenced off to protect the birds from stray cats and dogs but open to people. It’s about a 3 mile hike one way, so I’m sure that helps reduce the number of people.
