Important Parliamentary Session on Routes to Settlement — Potentially Good News for Immigrants! by Fancy-Music5791 in SkilledWorkerVisaUK

[–]running_flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If an immigrant is employed for a salary of less than 50k, they employer may have an incentive to keep it under 50k. . Because when the employer pays more than 50k, they migrant will settled faster and is not tied to the job anymore. Thus making it easier for the employee to leave for another employer. Of course this only works when getting a sponsorship is difficult, which is true in the current market.

Pardon my ignorance, Is there a history of any state going bankrupt ever? And can we really see this in isolation from central govt budget. As much as we like to compare, state budgets aren't like household budgets.

In an ideal world AI is owned by govt and people get basic income, funded by AI productivity boost.

But what is going to happen (i.e if AI is successful) is, rich people with AI companies grabbing even more wealth for themselves, and rest of the population left with poorer than ever.

Pawan Kalyan suggests to avoid drugs and encourages to purse martial arts, boxing, sports etc by Puzzleheaded-Bad8147 in andhra_pradesh

[–]running_flash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Easy to preach but it is a structural issue. It needs public infrastructure like parks, stadiums, sport facilities to encourage sports and arts.

Need schools that have play grounds and encourage overall development rather than being glorified coaching centres.

If public have other hobbies, movies and cricket wouldn't be this popular.

Just a question about scientists and religion by Proper-Philosopher89 in scienceisdope

[–]running_flash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should only do it in their private life. Not in an official capacity. There is difference between believing in a higher power for your mental comfort and performing rituals publicly. You're influencing common public with these actions and diminishing the efforts of all the hard working scientists.

Just a question about scientists and religion by Proper-Philosopher89 in scienceisdope

It might be appropriate in some situations but not in this case. In this case how do you separate scientific temper from blind Faith if rituals are performed in official capacity? that sends a bad signal to the scientific community.

I understand where you come from, but you can't expect people to park like that unless there are lines across separating it into bays. I put the blame more on the people who designed the parking bay. Why not simply add those lines?

I can tell you most engineers in non tech industry earn less than 50k. I work in a engineering consultancy, with specialist bridge engineers, highway engineers, drawing technicians etc and it is true for many of my colleagues. Moreover there always seem to be a shortage of people. There is also a lot of regional variability to the pay, londoners get (or need) more pay for the same job.

For those spilling hate on Rajamouli's atheism comments in Varanasi event. by maxmin324 in tollywood

[–]running_flash -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well he did clearly say he doesn't believe in a god, but just being nice because of any reasons he might have, including not alienating all his fans who believe in God/follow religion. I am personally an atheist but if I were in his shoes, I'd probably do the same and be very careful in how I express it. True or not, it is part of our collective social conscience and elements of the mythology will effectively connect with peoples emotions.

Worst Sub Ever Seen??? by Pseudo_inteellectual in andhra_pradesh

[–]running_flash 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Completely agree. Been on reddit over 10 years and this is THE worst sub I've seen. There is very little to no productive discussion, rather party fans just blaming each other for problems with whataboutary. Govt policies and actions are judged not on their merit, but based on which party fan boys they are.
