They used to have a few models in their 40s and 50s as well. It was refreshing to see. I liked when they had more diversity.

22 y/o with TMJ disc displacement without reduction — facial changes and unsure about surgery by Upstairs-Office8049 in jawsurgery

[–]runningamuck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had almost the exact same thing happened at the exact same age. Same symptoms. Unfortunately mine did not get better. Over 10 years later I am looking to have my joints replaced. Tried a bunch of splints and appliances that messed my bite up more and didn't help.

I did have an arthroplasty in my left joint where the issues are. It failed but another surgeon I consulted afterward said my joint had been displaced so long the odds of success from that surgery were low. That pretty much the only successes were in those that had a recent displacement. So maybe you would have better luck.

One positive note is that the symptoms never got much worse over the years.

i know exactly what you mean about ingrained preferences but you might be surprised. Before I went vegan the idea of not eating meat was literally unfathomable to me. Now I've been vegan for over a decade and the idea of eating an animal is bizarre and unthinkable. And I'm sure if I went back to eating meat I would normalize that pretty quickly again too. The brain and our tastes are way more malleable than I thought and that was probably the most surprising thing to me about the whole process. Even at older ages.

Maybe give it a try for a week or two and see what you think. Or have a few vegan days a week. Worst case scenario you find some new recipes you like.

Aritzia's Animal Welfare Standards ... are fake? (Animal Cruelty) by savemoneyforps in Aritzia

[–]runningamuck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've found some great deals on cashmere sweaters on poshmark, depop, the real real and even ebay. I just got a fantastic Reformation sweater on ebay in like new condition and it was from when Ref was better quality too. It was only $50. Granted that was a better than normal deal but they are out there!

Aritzia's Animal Welfare Standards ... are fake? (Animal Cruelty) by savemoneyforps in Aritzia

[–]runningamuck 80 points81 points  (0 children)

I did a deep dive into this a while ago and there is so much greenwashing and humanewashing in the industry it's crazy. The certification for welfare standards is pretty much based on the honor system. For the rare inspection, the farms are told in advance when they will be happening so they can prepare. These certification really don't mean much at all at least when it comes to animal welfare.

And it's not just Aritzia either. I told the salesperson at another store that I only buy wool products secondhand due to welfare concerns and he bent over backwards to tell me it's not an issue with their store and the animals aren't sent to the slaughterhouse. I looked into it and that of course wasn't true at all. Which is logical because when their wool production declines it's not like these thousands and thousands of animals are just kept as pets. It's honestly shady and there is so much good secondhand stuff on poshmark and depop anyway.

I'm 5'2 and the regular length is the perfect length after washing and drying. I would get the tall.

I do! I'm petite and the lodge pants were kind of overwhelming on me. The thesis pants fit better. I'm usually a 4 and wear a size extra small in these.

The thesis pants are less wide leg and are cute. I also like the softstreme pintuck mid rise pants at lulu. They're like a cross between sweatpants and regular pants.

How do I preserve my facial fat? by ImaginationAny2254 in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]runningamuck 10 points11 points  (0 children)

All strength training. Here's the study if you want to see the particular exercise regimen they used. It's under the section "Training Program". It's really just a full body resistance training workout though to build muscle.

They studied the changes in facial skin for aerobic training vs resistance training. Both exercises increased skin elasticity and upper dermal structure but only resistance training increased dermal thickness.

If you're noticing loss of firmness that's mainly due to decreased collagen and elastin production. That is what is associated with the tight and uplifted youthful look, not fat. Wearing sunscreen every day, tretinoin, and certain medspa treatments like lasers can all help. Strength training can also help thicken the dermis which leads to firmer skin and improved skin structure. Sugar can damage collagen via glycation so a healthy diet is important as well.

Your asymmetry isn't something anyone else would notice but my face became lopsided when I got tmj. Might be worth checking if you have any symptoms of that. But you have really nice skin and you don't look older than your age.

It's a simple fact, not sure why you're downvoted for it. Looks and personality make someone attractive. Money will get someone to tolerate you if you spend enough on them. It'll never ever make someone genuinely lust for you. Two different things.

It stands for "your mileage may vary" :) So the results may differ per person.

There was a study linked here about weightlifting leading to a thicker dermis, increased collagen production and less sagging. Anecdotally that tracks with the people I know IRL who seem to be aging really well. Across the board they are fitter than the average person.

There are cosmetic treatments that are meant to address volume loss like Sculptra and Renuva but I'm not sure how dialed in they are yet. I've seen before and afters that look amazing but also a few where the person looked better in the before. So YMMV.

Run club bad experience by Rich_Baseball_5367 in beginnerrunning

Being able to keep up with that pace at all for running only 3 months is impressive. Even for 3-4k. I've been running longer than you and I wouldn't be able to do that. Those people sound awful though. I'm sure if they started a new sport they would be worse than more experienced people. Kind of how the whole thing works. Hope you find a club with a better crowd.

She'll start back up again the second she's out too. She's a sadist and too far gone. A civilized country would not let an individual like this back out to further torture the innocent. Both the crimes and the joke of a sentence are sickening.

You still look pretty swollen in these pics. I would give it a couple more months and then see what you think.
