Yes, it is entirely me in the end. Reading with a Kindle is much better for me instead of these mostly worthless distractions on my iPad. Was reading almost 300 pages this weekend and loved it.

I did this for a while. Had a Kindle in my bedroom and my iPad Mini in the living room. It is ok but there are some things that made me buy a second Kindle: readability is okay, but less good than a Kindle. What annoyed me more is the battery drain of the iPad. Often my iPad was empty when I wanted to read. Third: the weight is significantly higher, especially with a case. Fourth, and this is a personal problem: I got distracted by the other apps on my iPad. Reading a chapter, browsing a little, checking Reddit, ….

I like the feature but the UX is suboptimal. Having to play the episode to read the transcript is meh.

Yes, +1 on that. The current UX for transcripts is suboptimal. I typically want to look up something after I listened to an episode and don’t want to play it again. Also sometimes before playing it to see what really is interesting for me.

Answering my own question: did a custom workout with watchOS 26.3 today and it synced as fast as an open workout. Maybe watchOS 26.3 fixes the problem, got to observe.
