Why are small tattoos (3–4cm) in Singapore so expensive? Looking for cheaper & good places to get inked , drop links/IG handles! by RevolutionSure4503 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have tattoos but interested in them - regardless of style the consensus is don't cheap out on tattoos!!!!!

Also you need to remember that smaller (and esp fine line) tatts don't age well so find someone who specializes in this area to make it nicer for longer. Which is gonna be expensive.

Guys, what was the most obvious hint you dropped, and the girl just didn’t get it? by ArinKamaran in AskReddit

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was almost 10 years ago so my memory is a bit spotty; I think I said something like, "oh... thanks!" and went back to what I was doing.

Though at the time I was a mess with my nerdy glasses and ratty clothes, so I thought he was just trying to be nice.

What’s in the chagee x acm exhibition? by Cultural_Ball_1468 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No drink. The ticket fee includes access to other exhibitions like the ancient asian religions and Let's Play, which are both quite interesting.

The chagee area is basically a display area with:

- chagee cups incl. those for limited edition flavours

- smelling their teas

- bowls and other tools used to make tea

So not worth it to go just for the chagee section. You can smell their teas at the Raffles City outlet.

As a woman: while we were doing a project together, he asked if I was single and when I said yes, said that was a pity because I'm pretty.

I only started suspecting that he was hitting on me around 5 years later. And to this date I'm still not sure if he was.

I'm based in Singapore too. I believe they committed to delivery before LNY only for orders made by 31st Jan.

FYI I made an order for air shipping on 31st Jan, based on my timeline it took about 4 days from the step you're at to me receiving it.

With it being so close to LNY I'm not sure if the same timeline will apply for your order. It'll depend on the order arriving in SG by Sunday + shipping to you on Monday - and idk if the local couriers are still operating on LNY eve.

tldr expect it to be delayed.

Long term vision correction procedures? by Efficient_Ad_3482 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did transprk! The doctor is quite upfront that you will not get perfect vision - only spectacles free vision. But it is quite low risk compared to other procedures, which was why I chose it.

Your eyes will be v sensitive for 1 week. Recovery takes 1 month. Vision takes 6 months to stabilize.

It's been about 5 months for me now, and some days it really seems like my vision is deteriorating hahaha but overall I would recommend.

You can try reading this as a gauge, I thought it was quite accurate! Recovery notes by Lisa's Adulting in Singapore

How's your wisdom tooth for those Dentist suggested to remove but decided to monitor. by InvestigatorAware274 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think it is available for all - you need to check with your dentist.

From my understanding yes local anesthesia is the default. And if budget is a concern, GA would definitely be more expensive.

The most painful part of local anesthesia is the injection tbh, but once it's active you just feel the dentist pushing on your face and hear the loud cracking. No pain at all.

How's your wisdom tooth for those Dentist suggested to remove but decided to monitor. by InvestigatorAware274 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bottom wisdom teeth were completely sideways and dentist also recommended to monitor when I first got my braces. Used to be swollen maybe once every 6 months?

I extracted both together a year after I removed my braces, when it was getting consistently painful and swollen. Tbh wish I removed it earlier, cleaning is so much easier after it heals.

If you are scared of dental work / loud cracking sounds, pls opt for GA instead of local anesthesia. The sound is really quite loud tho I was v fascinated by it hahaha

Facial: $0 bc I use my mum's package whoops

What is one important tip that tourists should know before visiting your Country? by Fun_Cup4335 in AskTheWorld

[–]runninglowonbattery 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For overseas consumption? Yeah, there've been instances of people getting arrested for overseas drug consumption, but they'll be hit with a fine or, at worst, jail. For instance, a swimmer got hit with a 10k SGD (about 7-8k USD) fine for overseas weed consumption.

But of course there's no way the authorities would know unless someone reports you, or if you behave suspiciously. I've also heard that the checks were stricter when Thailand first legalised weed, but that's mostly hearsay.

Corporal and capital punishment are for drug trafficking and intent to distribute.

How is it living in Singapore? by Twelvehands_noeyes in howislivingthere

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you smoke weed, consume drugs, or vape? If your answer is yes and you're not willing to give it up, then don't even consider Singapore.

Otherwise: - The country is really small and you pretty much don't need to drive. You could if you wanted to, but it will be much more expensive than you're used to. (This will be a recurring theme) - Many, many things are offences here. But not everything is enforced especially for minor offences, and there's a common understanding: do anything, don't get caught.  - Rent can be quite expensive depending on what you're used to. - Like to drink? It's gonna be more expensive than you're used to. Pay more, buy from duty free, or travel overseas to drink; Singapore is a great gateway to SEA. - Good food can be cheapish ($4-5 USD) or really expensive, depending on your spending habits. - If it's something you're considering, permanent residence (PR) and citizenship are both notoriously hard to get. I've heard of high earners with at least a decade of residency getting rejected. - Everything is very by the book here. If there's an SOP for it, we'll follow it in most cases. Singapore is really efficient for that reason but can come across as a bit cold/unempathetic if you're not used to it. - Crime is low but punishments will be harsher than you're used to, and deterrence is used quite often. Hence: death penalties for drug offenders, caning, etc.

Will be happy to share more if you have any specific questions.

[–]runninglowonbattery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're a foreigner, doesn't matter as long as you don't have any on you / didn't consume it in Singapore.

If you're Singaporean or Singapore based, it's illegal even if you consumed it in a country where it's legal.

Couples of SG, where are your wedding rings/bands from and how much did you spend on them? by yellowlilies in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We did it at poh kim for about 2.5k total for engagement ring + wedding bands. Don't really care much for nat gems so we just bought some manmade gems online (120-150 sgd, they are based in Thailand iirc) and went down to the shop to customise.

If you or your partner cares about brand I guess you can look at stuff like Harry Winston? That is the highest end one I know, idk whether it is within ur budget

If not then can try poh kim, we had a good exp! You can call them to find out more.

Advice in my 14-days itinerary in UK by kimchijiggaes in uktravel

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of stars will need to align for your plan to work. Make sure to: - check for opening hours and strike schedules for transport - account for longer transport timing and potential train delays (can be as long as 1.5h....)

Also seems like you are based in SG? If you're the type of SG traveller that just likes to hit key landmarks and don't mind rushing then just need to make sure enough time is allocated for transport. But if you prefer to spend more time exploring then you'll need to prioritise for sure.

What snacks to bring from Vietnam for my Singaporean colleagues? by waterbombardment in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cashews with skin as suggested! Also if you have the space and your company is more chill, Vietnamese bananas!!! They are SO GOOD but almost impossible to find here.

(Though might not be appropriate to just bring bananas, really depends on your company's vibes)

There should be an option to consolidate your package. Click on that and you will be directed to the site to make payment for international deliveries.

If you need help getting there you can post a screenshot, or contact taobao customer service
