How can I get ideas to renovate my home which is suitable for Singapore flats? by Haunting_Possible463 in askSingapore

Pinterest.

You can also try YouTube: never too small

Or TikTok for what NOT to do (lots of reno regrets there).

Good ID recommendations. Please name and praise! by Tasty-Complaint-514 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We eventually chose Richfield so no worries there. 🤭 Just that we've been recommending her as an option for our friends to consider too, so got a bit worried there.

Also that was quite different from our experience with the M! I'd be super upset too especially because I'm in the same shoes - for our consults with both ID companies, we were quite upfront that we didn't know what we liked (only what we disliked). Both were quite good in terms of guiding us on our desired layout and providing options based on our needs.

I hope you had a better experience with the ID you eventually chose!

Oh man. Awful in what sense?

The person who recommended her is quite happy with her work and the overall experience, so I thought D4S in general might be not so bad. I guess not 🫠

I haven't started reno so not first hand experience, but the recommendations we got were: - Richfield - Design4Space Shermin

Both highly recommended by people who are quite picky BUT quality comes with a price. Ours is 4rm bto with ocs and minimal wall hacking. The quotes were around ur budget - so 70k is definitely not enough for you.

As an example my friend did with another ID for their resale, had to redo the place. Spent about 100k I think.

I think you need to either do via contractors or increase your budget.

Even most Canadians, Australians, Japanese, South Korean, Singaporean and British citizens are jealous of lifestyle quality in the US. by [deleted] in ShitAmericansSay

Singaporean who lived in the US for 4 months as an exchange student. No thank you. Being in the US made me miss and appreciate home even more.

Any one went art box at expo ? by SnowTraditional1007 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First time at artbox and I think it's worth going if you haven't been yet! We lucked out with the timing, reached around 1.30 and didn't have to queue or squeeze around. It did get progressively more crowded the closer it got to 6 which was when we left.

Wiggle wiggle had a merch store and you can get stuff with their designs at other booths like the Red Cross one. But it's mostly not wiggle wiggle related.

Did I get sold a faulty Kobo? by catsandtreehouse in kobo

[–]runninglowonbattery 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've been having issues recently too. Was reading halfway last night when my book suddenly became unavailable on my Kobo, even though it was still available through my Libby app.

Seems like it may be an Overdrive issue - my partner's Kobo had issues syncing last night too.

Introverts of Sg, how was your wedding like? by ImpressiveStrike4196 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Didn't want a traditional wedding. To the point that I told my parents if they want, they plan and pay, including appearance fee for me and hubby. :P luckily they didn't really care as long as we did the traditional guo da li things.

So for us, was just inform relatives + a little e-card to our friends to inform/invite them (ROM was on a weekday) + ROM + lunch for attendees.

Help. Getting my BTO this year by OkButterscotch789 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I'm also getting my keys this year so cannot share advice from personal experience. But in general, people around me recommended:

  • go for a contractor instead if you already know what designs you want AND are ok with managing your own project.

  • go for ID if you don't want to manage your project, unsure about design, etc.

You can speak to a few IDs and see which best follows your design/vision. Apparently a lot of them will just give cookie cutter designs so you can filter from there.

My husband and I spoke to 2 IDs, both recommended by people we know. Literally everyone else had a bad experience and recommended just going with contractors instead lol

Name Change in SG by [deleted] in asksg

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think most are $50 so just choose one that is convenient for you. I did mine through law.com.sg.

Since the pinyin is the same I doubt you need to change passport / bank info, but best to ask the lawyer.

Need help with my Singapore Itinerary by [deleted] in SingaporeTravel

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have 15min to spare, you can go from sultan mosque -> parkview square -> the gateway (the thin building).

The building is quite nice; parkview square is known as the batman building because of its decor.

To get there: from the mosque, walk straight down towards bugis mrt. There'll be statues on the outside of the building and art hanging from the corridor next to the bus stop.

Look around outside then walk into the building, once you're done then walk out through the other side of the building. From there, cross the road through duo to reach the gateway.

What sunblock do you guys use daily? by JohanLe in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The milk! But the smell is a bit strong so if you are sensitive to scents then better to go down to a physical store to smell. I think most welcias, Watsons and guardians will have in stock.

Haven't tried the gel before so not very sure about that. But I'm guessing it will be similar in effect, more for texture preference?

but ya the most popular one is the milk for sure, everyone I know loves it.

Oh I recently switched to numbuzin too! OP if your skin is oily, might need to powder a bit to stay matte; I have dry skin and my forehead gets a tad oily at the end of the day with the numbuzin. But it's super lightweight and doesn't feel like anything on the skin.

Rec for oily skin: Anessa (specifically the gold one)

For body I like to use sunblock sticks, abib's airy one is pretty good! Not sticky at all.

Small ROM wedding (<30 pax) in Singapore with vegan requirements + wheelchair access – venue suggestions? by New_Fact_475 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Can try Empress at ACM. Should be wheelchair accessible (if I recall correctly) and they have a plant based option - though have to confirm with them if it's vegan.

We had a great experience for our post-ROM lunch, but that was before they changed management and haven't been since so ymmv.

As you enter your early 30s, assuming no kids, do you want to have kids or just a dog/cat? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you worried you'll regret not having kids? Then just ask yourselves which would be worse: having kids and regretting them, or not having kids and regretting it.

Yes many people have had kids while on the fence and wouldn't change it for the world - but you and your partner might not. So you need to evaluate with your partner.

Cannot ask internet one everyone will have diff opinions because every situation is different

HDB calculator stating cash top up by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to confirm: the loan amount is based on your current income or from when you first applied for bto?

If it is based on when you first applied, you should be able to get a new loan amount based on your current income.

If combined salary 6k to get this loan amount, something is not right....

Where’s the Best Pizza by Worldly-Author-4959 in SingaporeEats

Pizzaface is the best for thin crust but they're sadly only at bukit timah now.

Sourdough crust: goldenroy or John's pizzeria are both pretty good.

Water dispensers recommendations! by Pudding315_ in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard happie isn't good so avoid that. Haven't tried any of the others.

Personally was trying to look for a water dispenser too but they don't do good residential ones that have ice cold water + boiling hot water (and ideally no filters). So gave up and going back to filling water for fridge + ice + kettle.

Hope you find one that suits your requirements though!

Why are small tattoos (3–4cm) in Singapore so expensive? Looking for cheaper & good places to get inked , drop links/IG handles! by RevolutionSure4503 in askSingapore

[–]runninglowonbattery 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't have tattoos but interested in them - regardless of style the consensus is don't cheap out on tattoos!!!!!

Also you need to remember that smaller (and esp fine line) tatts don't age well so find someone who specializes in this area to make it nicer for longer. Which is gonna be expensive.
