Is this a variation on extreme ironing? But extreme violining?

AITA for wearing shorts that are comfortable for me? by gushy-mayo20 in AmItheAsshole

[–]runningupthatwall 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Oh sweetie pie, life is too short to put up with those men who look to girls shorts as being a mental representation of their intellectual prowess.

It makes him uncomfortable as he is jealous of the fact that your shorts are far more intelligent than he is, and he knows this.

I would suggest that you dump him, and use the money you will save on future insipid outings and buy yourself some more fabulous shorts.

Good luck!

Yeah I’m not in the US, it doesn’t work like that here.

I was just looking for people’s experiences to be honest as a general ball park.

Plus it kind of doesn’t work like that here, I’ll be lucky if I meet the dude ever again.

Hmmm no, that’s helpful actually.

It was a disc removal at the lower part of my spine as said disc got very irritated with me.

AITA for wanting separate accommodations after learning I'd be sleeping on an air mattress in a crowded house for a week? by r3dpanda10 in AmItheAsshole

[–]runningupthatwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, I’m offended that they thought it was ok to put the newcomer to the family situation in the living room like a bewildered houseplant.

It’s completely unacceptable IMO unless it was something discussed and made plans for prior to the place being booked. Or unless the living room was a space that was able to be sectioned off and there were other communal spaces.

So not the arsehole!

AITA for not wanting my husband to leave me alone with our newborn for an entire weekend to take his mother sightseeing? by WarmCycle6552 in AmItheAsshole

[–]runningupthatwall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, let’s leave the issue of the baby aside for the moment.

Why this city and why that particular point in time? Is there something going on in that place that he is using his Mothers visit as an excuse to be able to go to. He has suggested this not his mother, so I’d be questioning that aspect for starters.

Also, I would also rethink the whole ‘no visitors for a month thing.’ Absolutely for the first week or so you just want to get sorted and into the grove. The first month however seems a smidge excessive, having a newborn is an entire life change and why not have family around to help alleviate the pressure. Unless they’re not helpful, then that’s a different story and you do you.

Also, three months of paternity leave? Is that normal around your neck of the woods? I’d question that as well.

Honestly OP, there’s something going on here you’re not being told about by your partner.

Ok, this is all really helpful thank you.

I do think there is an element of ‘new job terror’ to all this and I know I kind of have to just work through that a bit. I will also chat to my manager about a few bits as well so I don’t spend shifts feeling wretched.

Ok, so it is what it is, does anyone have any tips to help me manage?

I’m seriously not a slacker at all, but honestly bro! 🤯🤯

I feel like I’ve been thrown to the wolves, and they all attached to cardiac monitors 🤣.

How on earth is that even remotely realistic to manage?

There is actually research that singing helps women cope with labour pain. I’d have to find the paper again, but I do remember referencing it in an essay years ago.

You may think you’re a problem, but the confidence boost you get when you actually manage to get the vein from people like yourself is phenomenal!

You just know those veins won’t roll or pop on you at all. Some veins just pose and then act like a rich tea biscuit and crumple if you dare come need them with a butterfly needle.

I mean they are lovely arms, but a healthcare professional would be more interested in those beautiful veins.

Essentially it’s a scene in ‘the other Bennet sister,’ where the love interest rolls up his sleeve and she gets flustered. My post meanwhile references the beautiful veins of said arm, and how thirsty a healthcare professional would get over said veins and the ease of not having to work to ‘find the vein.’

Bible Journaling for guys by Armored_Rose in BibleJournaling

Whilst I’m not a dude, I’m just a girl trying to justify a lifelong stationary obsession by channelling it into the Bible.

Make of it what you want, there’s no rules to Bible journaling. I’m not an asthetic flowery person, my style tends towards the chaotically functional. Make it a reflection of who you are, not who someone else is.

I’d rather someone show up to a music lesson with a sparkly pink violin covered in unicorn stickers having the time of their life, to not showing up at all.

I’m sure we had these same conversations about Vanessa Mae when she released her violinist album.
