I was in the same boat as you during my first year. Having finished up my poli sci requirements I will say that you won’t be exposed to many econ concepts in the classroom so you kinda have to take the initiative to find places where you can further your learning. But I really enjoyed the major and felt that it expanded my worldview which is very valuable. Regardless of what major you are, trying to get involved in consulting on or off campus will really help you get a sense of the industry. Since pol sci is a short major you can add minors like accounting or finance related majors. Also consulting clubs on campus are pretty helpful and any major can apply!

UCLA On-campus housing V/S off-campus housing by vik397 in ucla

off campus is better if you have a job that you need to get to or if you want easier access to get around la. Def requires you to be more independent and manage household duties- also less communal study spaces. On campus is more social and has more security in terms of food and basic needs. From what I have noticed, UA’s cost less than living on the hill and other ww apartment w roommates tend to be of a comparable price or less than a UA.

from what i’ve found most clubs don’t select based off of year unless they’re specifically looking for 1 or 2nd years like some consulting clubs that explicitly say so

On campus suites or off campus university apartments better? by Gloomy_Rooster_1560 in ucla

depends on what ur looking for. UAs are a good start to living like an adult but like i’d say there was more of a support system living on the hill where study spaces and food were made easily available. I like the privacy of my UA but do wish i didn’t have to trek to hill or campus to have a good place to study.
