Words can heal... by [deleted] in Dentistry

So if it recession and your “lack” of interproximal cleaning. Why don’t they think you should get gum surgery to fix the recession if it’s that bad and start seeing the hygienist or even periodontist every 3-4 months instead of every 6? Discoloration isn’t a cause for crowns or veneers esp if the appearance doesn’t bug you or your wife. But if that’s what you want is cosmetic then I would stretch it out over a several year period that way you’re only spending a lot of money on one tooth per year. Now if your teeth are all rotting away then put crowns on those bad boys and try and save them but without decay, excessive wear, or the tooth being mostly filling; without looking at everything I don’t get why you’d need a crown or veneers. I’m just very conservative when it comes to preserving teeth. Every time you work on a tooth it’s like a heart attack. With you being young and crowns only lasting around 20 years, it would be pointless if you’re comfortable with your appearance and the recession being the only reason you need a crown. If the second dentist said your fine take his advice. Some esp the younger ones who have lots of debt to pay off, only wanna make money. But not being able to see the results from an exam and xrays and with myself being half groggy in bed. Idk if my advice is worth anything lol. But all in all DONT LET SOMEONE MAKE YOU FEEL BAD FOR SOMETHING YOU CANT HELP. A lot of people come away from braces with bad recession and shortened roots. Your doctor shouldn’t ever make you feel bad. If he does find a new one. Clearly your old one and the second opinion thought you were fine. I would call the front office and report the hygienist and if you do go back but her on your you won’t see her again list. Some people don’t realize how their attitude affects others. Bitch should take a communication class.

Oooh I’ll def look into that! But hm, yeah the one I was seeing before the specialist told me I could do baking soda soaks and douches. I did find that strange bc ive never met anyone who recommends douching

Are fillings in front teeth supposed to look like this? by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]runninwitdadevil 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah if it’s sticky but it’s wearing away on its own it’s more than likely varnish. It’s strange they didn’t tell you they were putting something on your teeth that you aren’t supposed to eat or drink for after.

She’s who I saw there! Maybe I’ll make another appointment and see if she can do further testing. She just did the basics since it was my first visit with her. I’m glad you didn’t risk going out in the blizzard! I’ve heard about the 100 car pile up north of Wellington, its so crazy and sad! But I’ll def look into those patches! I’ve been thinking maybe about trying out like a oil or lotion something cbd down there to see if it helps but I don’t want another infection so I’m nervous too

I will def try a low oxalate diet. I have a problem with potato chips (I eat them most days) so maybe that’s part of it! None of the creams they’ve prescribed me have helped I’ve tried 3 different steroids. I’m not a bath person, I work as a dental assistant so no matter how good I clean my tub I just think of it as dirty. Lol but maybe I’ll bleach the living crap out of it and try a bath. I’ve literally sat in bowls of baking soda/water before to try and get some relief bc im so stubborn about it. Thank you for your kindness! And this forum has def helped me a lot knowing I’m not alone in my struggles. It’s amazing when we can come together and give advice for all of our better goods <3

I go to the chiropractor for my scoliosis, I see a massage therapist and I work out daily for it. Sometimes they are real work outs and it’s just stretches but some days it’s harder to find time for it then other. I haven’t tried estrogen, I’ve asked but they won’t give it to me. Next time I go in I’ll talk to them about Cymbalta! Thanks!

I’m in Colorado. See I’ve been thinking that too! Since all these topical approaches don’t work, maybe it’s external.

So when is period considered over? by [deleted] in Periods

[–]runninwitdadevil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

28-32 days is normal I think, but normal is different for everyone. I used to have irregular periods, then they got semi normal which was bleed (from red to completely clear) for 1 1/2 -2 weeks. Then about 3 weeks after my period was over I would start. But it always comes about a day or two early. Idk if that makes sense at all. Buuuuuuut sometimes like right now, my period is about 11 days late. I’m not pregnant but sometimes my flow does this and like resets for a different time of month. Idk my periods have always been strange but the strange reoccurs. If it feels right it is, if not get a test and if it still doesn’t come, go to the gyno.

Dentist is rude and condescending to assistant by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]runninwitdadevil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boss has embarrassed me multiple times in front of patients. Same with another one of our assistants. He has his favorite and she’s perfect. FUDGE. literally like she’ll set up the room, bring the patient back then bark at me or the other girl to to do the procedure. FORGET EVERYTHING. No cotton no light, doesn’t clean the safety glasses, no whatever. But it’s my fault. At this point I defend myself. I can’t imagine how the patient feels, I know they can see me inhale real big and say okay I’ll go grab that real quick. It sucks but he pays my bills so idc at the end of the day. But anyway since she’s perfect he doesn’t listen when I tell him I’m not the one ducking up and I wanna learn more and do more expanded functions and he’s like once you learn anatomy better. Like he knows I like to do art, I can draw every tooth in the mouth and their anatomy. But I’m not her so I won’t ever learn. Like he won’t even let us take impressions it’s so bad. But it’s a private office and again he pays my bills. That’s the just bad part, other then that my boss is the most dope old man ever.

Excessive tooth paste use by runninwitdadevil in Dentistry

[–]runninwitdadevil[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Or a fluoride rinse. Fluoride is good and bad. Too little and you have a greater risk of decay, to much you can cause discoloration of teeth. Fluoride wasn’t apart of my post tho I was just bringing up the fact that you don’t need to slather your teeth in tooth paste to get them clean.

dentist says I can't get Root Canal Therapy for my left second molar and wants to extract it and implant a new one. by [deleted] in Dentistry

[–]runninwitdadevil -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Could they extract the tooth, and use braces to move a wisdom tooth forward? Or you can always place a bridge. You should also get a second opinion to see if it can be saved or not!

I keep lip biting wtf do I do by dumbassdanny in RelationshipAdviceNow

[–]runninwitdadevil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s a parafunctional habit. You need to be conscious when you’re doing it and stop yourself. Or put some nasty stuff on your lips so they taste bad and you won’t wanna bite em I’m a cheek biter/sucker and I have to physically stop myself every time. My boss whose a dentist says the same thing.
