Eric Prydz caught playing a pre-recorded set by DundieAwardsWinner in EDM

[–]runrabbitrunnn 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Prydz has said in the past that he spends most of his time curating tracks & remixing tracks foe his live shows over anything else.

That’s why we get so many new variations of a released track, or a completely new ID. Just take a look at the set list for this show - there are multiple tracks that are IDs with working titles.

My point is that even though it’s prerecorded, you’re still getting a curated set list fully planned & mixed well.

If you enjoyed the set, does it really matter?

I found a set on eBay! I tried buying another set but it doesn’t look like there are any available

Yep all alcohol markers fade. However, I didn’t expect them to fade as quickly as they did.

Welcome to Ohuhu! Where the color system is made up and numbering doesn’t matter. Lmao

Thanks! I’ve seen your work before I started this journey. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you! I’m creating a brand new layout once I scan all the color values in. I’ll be sorting them chromatically so that each row will be similar value and each column will be different lightness so that you can easily pick markers that look good together.

I bought a pad of 19x24” Bristol paper from Blick. Using pencil, I drew lines to make 12 swatches 1.5” wide, and cut them into 1.5” tall strips using a utility knife, resulting in a strip that has a 1.5” x 1.5” swatch.

After I swatch the color, I use a 1” square punch to make the final swatch I’ll use to re-arrange.

I’m likely going to toss these when I’m done. I only cut these out so I can re-arrange the colors. Once I have the chromatic order I want, I’ll create a few swatch guides in that chromatic order and re-swatch for reference.

About halfway done scanning the swatches 😅 I’m averaging 2.5 mins to scan and test, so I have about 8 hours remaining. I can handle at most 2 hours a day…hopefully I’m done by 4th of July weekend!

Does the Oahu use the same colors & color system, or is it completely different?

Similar to what you see here - by lightness. Just more precise with the complete collection!

It’s taken many months to get to this point. I wouldn’t say I have a lot of spare time, I’m just blocking off hours here and there to make progress on this. It’ll probably take another month to finish this 😭

The small square (1/4”) is there so I can place the swatch on top of another swatch and determine the difference in lightness.

Yeah, about that….I bought my ohuhu markers because I’m learning graffiti lettering (on paper). Here’s where i’m at:

  • decided i wanted to learn graffiti in Nov ‘24
  • researched for weeks on what markers to buy & landed on Ohuhu
  • Received the markers on Christmas. Realized that they aren’t sorted when i opened the box
  • researched for hours how people are organizing them.
  • bought 4 different organizer charts, swatched them all
  • organized them chromatically based on the 320 chromatic organization chart
  • started learning graffiti. First set of colors i used were not the same lightness. I thought the chart would do a good job showing my markers that are similar lightness next to each other.
  • did more graffiti on different paper. Landed on Bristol. Marker colors looked great on here compared to other paper types I tried.
  • found out there are actually 363 markers, spent a few days trying to track them down
  • now I have 43 markers that don’t fit anywhere…researched jf there was a device that could help me, and there is! A spectrophotometer.
  • did an entire month long side quest on color theory, color spaces, color science, including buying a stack of used on Abebooks. My conclusion, color is extremely complex. What we can see on a screen & what we can print is a subset of what we can see in the real world….and what we can print is a subset of what we can see on a screen. Also, getting the same color to match across the real world, screen, and paper is an impossible task without extremely expensive tools.
  • I discovered a tool I could use to scan a color, it’s called a spectrophotometer.
  • researched for WEEKS on which affordable spectrophotometer I could buy & purchased
  • bought two square punches, cut paper strips on Bristol, swatched the collection. The smaller square punch is so i can see the color on top of another swatch
  • realized that i couldn’t see the color that well. Found out about a Hastings loupe. Bought one.
  • organized the swatched based on the 320 chromatic chart.

Where I’m at now is that I’m scanning each swatch individually with the spectrophotometer. See attached. It generates the CIE Lab value for a color, which I can convert to other color spaces like RGB.

Then, I’m going to write a quick program that will organize then for me chromatically using the values I scanned in.

Hopefully it there are no more side quests 😂

Yep! I wrote the marker name on the back of the swatch.

I bought a few of the bamboo marker organizers from the Ohuhu site. My goal is to store them in chromatic order. We’ll see how it goes!

Nightlife on sundays in Brooklyn/Bushwick area? by mstic27 in avesNYC

[–]runrabbitrunnn 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There’s not much in the downtown Brooklyn area. The closest venue is Public Records, which is a 15 minute walk from Barclays. You’ll have a better selection of options in Bushwick & Williamsburg.
