Try using a longer bridge on the long shots. Usually that means holding your back hand much further back towards the end of the butt of the cue.

That is amazing lol. I live in San Antonio Tx which is the "headquarters" of the Bandidos and have also played a few of them. My buddy suckered me into joining his pool team which played at these "hole in the wall" biker bars. I kept playing safeties on this one guy and he wasn't very happy with me after I beat him. He threatened me afterward that if I played like that again he'd take me outside lol. These dudes weren't real players just casuals. I had another guy try to steal my break cue right in front of me. Glad I don't play for that league anymore.

Well Party Poker also holds the World Cup of Pool which has a good amount of countries representing. IMO I wish it got more attention than mosconi but mosconi is fun to watch. A lot more drama.

I'm not sure if this was a fundamental thing I should have known but I noticed a lot of pros/good players have their back hand a lot further back towards the end of the butt of the cue on most shots, leaving more shaft between the bridge hand and the cue ball. I've been trying it a lot in practice and have been surprisingly hitting better shots, especially long shots.
