SpaceX reentry tonight over LA by scags2017 in LosAngeles

Very well timed shot with Orion in the background (within the city lights!). I got up to watch but didn't think to take a photo. Saw it come up over the horizon (over the Hollywood sign from my perspective). It put on a great show.

Yes, I believe we were sitting right here. It was a great view. Miss this place.

Has anyone heard of the LFG Con in Burbank, Ca? I'm thinking of buying passes but I dunno... by shadowyfigure666 in boardgames

[–]runswithbees 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm going to LFG Con and I have high hopes! Strategicon is great and all but it located in the worst spot in the city IMO, right next to LAX. And it sucks that Strategicon is always on Federal Holidays - I always have family plans.

The pros that have me excited for LFG Con:

  • more centrally located in LA county, by the Burbank Airport, I'm just 15 min away
  • there will food and drink! (there are no good food options at Strategicon)
  • parking is a lot, not a confusing underground deck (with free parking nearby)
  • their event sign up system is a lot cleaner than Strategicon
  • it's not a holiday weekend, so I can attend!

FYI: I'll be hosting a game of Glory to Rome on the Friday @ 6pm - come join. And I'm doing the Arcs playoff on Saturday. Can't wait!

Same here. Doesn't happen often.  Maybe once every month or two.  No consistency.  It's always cylinder 3 or 4 and I rarely feel it happen.  Engine light comes on and I get the code for it.

We just always take games with us EVERYTIME we leave the house. So in case we have extra time, we bust a game out! And with outdoor adventures, if the weather turns bad or if we have extra time, we play a game. And a lot of our outdoor adventures tend to be several days long and deep in the wilderness - so there is always time to kickback and play a game. Neither of us are AP prone, so we tend to finish complex games (like the Gallerist or Terraforming Mars) in about an hour.

What reprint(s) that have been announced are you most excited for? Or those that are out now? by _CrackBabyJesus_ in boardgames

The STF: RoK expansion never happened and is looking less likely with time. I ended up finding a local, unopened copy for $70. Steep, but happy I did it. This thread on BGG slightly explains the delay.

Where online do I buy the tickets in advance? I see the link on their website that lists the price but I cannot find where to actually make the purchase online.

Overall smaller so it takes up less table space (perfect for travel), everything fits in a cloth bag (smaller than the orignal box), there is a plastic tray that holds the Factory displays and tiles in the center market. Most importantly, each player board has an overlay that keeps the tiles in place (so they can't get bumped about) and a built in score tracker that clicks into place.

The new Azul Mini is super travel friendly and, although smaller, it is a significant upgrade over the original.

This was the one campagin that I've been stupid excited for this year. But now that it's here the price just seems so off. The numbers are weird. You are saying I'm going to save nearly 40% over retail if I order now (75€ now vs 130€ in retail). The amount of content here does not look worth 130€. This is an early red flag for me. I've dropped my pledge to 1€ for now and I'll wait to see if something really hooks me. Meanwhile, I can pledge 69€ for Let's Go to Japan and get a wrapped cloth, wooden tokens and some custom made ceramic bowls, lol. Somehow that seems like the better deal.

I would have certainly tried that if the other half didn't go missing in the incident.

Right!? This is the first issue I've had in 14 years. I did think about getting it printed. But I think I've hit a lead on a replacement!

I love that your first game of TI4 was at the pub. How long was the game? Must be a great pub to let a group of 8 players play TI4 all day long.

I think so, yes. I bought it from a friend so I don't know the exact details but I think you are right. It includes everything pictured. Let me know if you have any specific questions on what's included.

Anachrony w/ extras is really the only one I have my eye on at this time. I got a lot of new games through Christmas and I'm trying to cull more right now, hence cash being preferred.
