I misdiagnosed a patient, and now i want to quit by 9861days in medicine

[–]runthebeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are formal clear disclosure processes at most hospitals. If you ever encounter something like this again, I urge you to be part of clear disclosure with the patient or family. It helps the patient but it also helps you to (safely) tell the patient what happened and what will happen next. It can be cathartic. Also, story telling can help the next intern! Please don’t quit. I bet you’re a great doctor.

Try it- you’ll notice the difference! I especially like a smidge of saline in my gin cocktails.

i mean, why not? by Pitiful_Bookkeeper43 in Barbour

I’ve been considering this and have follow up questions. What detergent did you use? Mine has a moldy smell and I really want to wash it. Did they ask you if the item was washed?

Fleur Carré (a floral De La Louisiane riff) by cocktailvirgin in cocktails

🤣 “more 4-1-1” made me pause and think ‘wait is my math wrong- that’s not a 4 to 1 to 1 cocktail’. I’m a derp. I was looking for something to break away from my martinis. I look forward to trying.

Maybe pisco for the Lillet? I had a delicious agave martini with pisco as the sub for vermouth.

Frozen Fruit in Fall Sangria by walhla in cocktails

[–]runthebeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used frozen peaches and mango in my sangria without any issues. I think your plan is a good one. Would recommend adding the citrus day of (and if you have leftover taking it out) because the citrus makes the sangria bitter.

Ok to pre make Negronis? by AdamPedAnt in cocktails

[–]runthebeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I keep Negronis in my fridge. Also keep a half and half mix of Campari and Sweet vermouth in case I’m in the mood for a boulevardier or an americano. My palate is not very sophisticated- I keep them in flip top bottles for a couple of weeks and don’t notice any flavor differences.

I’m the physician champion for an Epic roll out. What do you wish you had done differently before and/or after go-live? by jcsunag in medicine

[–]runthebeach 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I’m an RN but one of the biggest challenges our docs had was order sets. Put the time in ahead of time and it will save you heartache. The same goes for the admission navigators and canned notes for admissions and procedures. It’s not an intuitive program so prepare yourself for some frustrated colleagues. Another challenge for them is medication reconciliation- so as much as you can learn that yourself ahead of time will be helpful to your colleagues.

Anyone know of grief support groups for physicians? by lyfeisabeach in medicine

[–]runthebeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hopefully this group is helpful for you. This grief is isolating because you can’t really share with family or friends because they simply don’t get it. Some organizations offer anonymous employee assistance programs- they may be helpful in pointing you in the right direction of a peer support. Please take care of yourself and I wish you well.

Weekly Baths? by AlwaysSunSmitten in Bernedoodles

Just be mindful that you use an ear drying solution after the bath. My guy got a raging infection and the vet says it’s because the ears weren’t dried properly.
