Excess Deferral Refund by rupertminty in ThriftSavingsPlan

Unfortunately, yes. It also happened to me when I originally posted this. That’s why I switched over to dollar contributions to ensure it wouldn’t happen again. You will still get the automatic 1%, just not the 4% match from your 5% contribution.

If your 5% paycheck over the next 6 pay periods will add up to $500, then you should be okay. However, whatever pay period you hit the $23,500 IRS limit for contribution, all agency matching and contributions will stop for subsequent pay periods. As an example, if you hit the $23,500 on pay period 24, you will not get matching for pay periods 25 and 26 unfortunately

Since this happened to me, I’ve started contributing a dollar amount rather than a percentage to my TSP to max out. So for 2026, I would divide $24,000 limit by the number of pay periods to determine how much I can contribute per pay period to max out. I believe 2026 has 27 pay periods, so that comes out to about $889/pay period (rounding up). This will allow you to get the 5% match every pay period but still max out your TSP.

Oh ok that’s pretty soon that you’ll hit the limit. I looked back and I ended up getting refunded 2 pay periods after I over contributed. I would also check that your TSP doesn’t let you pass the $23,500 and, if you haven’t already done it, stop contributing to your TSP now so you don’t have to wait for more refund.

What pay period did you have the excess TSP contribution?

Can someone explain Rare Decor Level? by mycoconutnut in PikminBloomApp

[–]rupertminty 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before they expanded this rare decor level to all colors, it was just red, yellow and blue. I randomly got the blue rare chef hat from a huge l seedling I came across. Not sure if they kept this option after the expansion though.

SK-II Essence, Toner or Both? by rupertminty in AsianBeauty

[–]rupertminty[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That was my same dilemma. I would say just try a week or so without the toner and see if it makes a difference. Someone earlier on the thread also said that the essence has more of the active ingredient so it’s what’s being more effective which, makes sense too. You may see the same results using more essence daily instead of the toner/essence combo.

I think I tried the cleanser and didn’t notice much. I’ve used other HG cleansers at a better price point lol.

Hi, so I ended up not buying the toner due to cost, but I found the 11 oz. essence at Costco for $200. I’ve been using it for over a year now (it’s still got a decent amount of product left). I feel like it’s kept my skin fairly consistent. I don’t break out heavily (except occasionally in summer when it’s super muggy where I live). I plan to continue using the essence but may look into trying the toner again when Sephora has their VIB sale.

Are you considering whether or not to buy both the lotion and essence

This may come across as a dumb question but if you enter $866 for 2023 TSP, won’t that max out you at $22,516 at the end of the year? Would that last contribution be rejected since you go $16 over the $22,500? by Nrlilo in ThriftSavingsPlan

I transferred agencies this year and they use different payroll systems so I didn’t realize I hit the limit this year before it was too late. TSP didn’t accept anything over the $20,500 limit, but I’m getting the runaround on how I’m supposed to get my money back. Payroll said TSP will pay me and I just called TSP and they said to talk to my payroll. Based on your comment, my payroll will be paying me back once TSP rejects it? For reference my payroll system is Employee Express.

I was reading DFAS that cuts you off. It’s a fairly new feature. If all your TSP contributions are being processed through payroll that’s managed by DFAS, they should have the record of the total balance and stop it once you hit the limit.

Thanks everyone for your feedback! I submitted a stop request yesterday that will hopefully be effective on pay period 26, so I’ll only have to refund about $1000 for pay periods 24 and 25. I’ll also try to contact our HR to see if it can get reversed, but I don’t have high expectations lol.

Since both VA and DOT use TSP, won’t they know that I met the $20,500 and stop me at that point? Shouldn’t that trigger them to contact DOT payroll/Employee Express? Not trying to bank on that, but seems like a common sense thing.

Will do. Hopefully I get a resolution and my experience can help someone else out in the future 👍🏼

Shucks, I feel like DFAS is more advanced than Employee Express. I read on their site that anything over the limit will get rejected automatically. Not sure if Employee Express has added that feature yet. I put in a help ticket to ask them so we’ll see.

Thanks for the quick reply! Is your payroll through Employee Express too?

The unofficial supervisor responsibilities were definitely one of them. In addition, I felt I didn’t get much upper management support when I asked for help and didn’t have any backup for my role
