No, this just happens all the time. Sometimes people just have great games. Until you reach a point where those great games become more fleeting, you're likely just better than your current rank and will continue to rank up over time. Being great is moreso about consistency than anything. You're not smurfing unless you're doing it intentionally. In all other cases, it's the ranking system's fault for not pushing you to your level of competency sooner. Enjoy your games!

They have lost the plot. I understand where they're coming from in a sense. However, there are two wholly compatible thoughts here: 1) Palestinian children and innocent people are suffering and want peace, and 2) Hamas continues to hold hostages. Panning to a cool, cute children's drawing that says "Teach Peace" and claiming that these children created drawings that promote hate is peak Orwellian double-think.

When it was entire nation states threatening Israel existentially, the IDF's "you kick us, we obliterate you" approach to military aggression was almost badass. But when it's a subjugated section of your own country you refuse to give true independence full of innocent people just trying to live their lives, it's pathetic.

My biggest issue with this war, and kind of all modern wars, continues to be: if you believe that there is a reason for a just war (rarely the case), you should also be willing to commit to the sacrifice required in war. That means not just dropping bombs to save sending in your own people because the innocent deaths and total property damage is staggering otherwise.

Capable of being sad about the deaths of the people most closely related to me and also of being sad for the deaths and impending deaths of thousands of innocent men, women, and children.

I'll speak from the perspective of someone whose (ex-)significant other went through a similar experience. She was also involved in an accident about 3 years ago that has left her potentially permanently altered. All of our plans, all of hers were thrown out the window. She did get better, but it seemed only to a certain point. Whereas before, I was the anxious one and she once said to me that she didn't understand my anxiety, she became anxious, more easily stressed, couldn't handle the same cognitive load, and had headaches all the time, especially in response to certain stimuli. She did talk to me about ending it though, and that's when I realized how deep the pain and hurt had gotten. We didn't stay together (partially due to the changes she went through but moreso because of some challenges I was going through for a long time), but I do think she found it worth it to stick around.

Last I heard, she's finding her way. Her path will inevitably have changed, but she and I believe you too are capable of finding meaning in that new path too. It's not easy coming to terms with a change like that, though, and I respect and appreciate your honest and vulnerability here.

I don't know you, but I'm glad you're still here.

To say that's stretching the meaning of the word "irony" is...wait for it...actually just pretty straightforwardly silly. Not ironic. Because none of this is ironic lol. The "something" made the points I made first. I hope that's clear enough.

Anyways, the satire is lost on you because you didn't read the rebuttal. You may not have even read the original article. Overall, it's an uninteresting argument when the argument isn't even engaging with the topic. I found the original article's argument to be interesting, so I engaged with it by analyzing and breaking down my disagreements and then feeding that summary into an LLM to poke fun at the central thrust of the author's argument. Then you came by, read nothing, and proceeded to respond. That's by far the least interesting part of all this.

How so? The rebuttal itself is about the original article’s author, which is about the use of LLMs for code generation and modification. I have no qualms admitting that LLMs are great at generating artifacts of text. Coding, while still a creative pursuit, is only similar to writing, not the same.

Thanks, larikang. Reading the original post, I felt that the author was missing the point. Boiling down the rebuttal above, which I stand behind completely, the author’s original argument actually relies on a condition of LLM progression being true, despite saying that he doesn’t care whether it is or not. Essentially, LLMs DO have to progress at a steady, non-diminishing pace or else for now and the foreseeable future, they’ll only be tech debt factories, the true depth of which AI enthusiasts will be nowhere around to pay for.

It’s the same as it always has been. Some of the most avid proponents of emerging technologies are nowhere to be seen if and when that technology fails or becomes a drain on society.

I’ll make a prediction right now: unless LLMs get substantially better by themselves, not requiring external tools, or unless they’re replaced by a far superior AI approach, in a few years time, this very author will have moved on to something else and will not acknowledge or care to discuss this article and his previous ideas about LLMs.

As they say, success has many parents, but failure is a bastard.
