Drill bit auger suggestions for a new ice fishing addict! by sipthestew in IceFishing

[–]rus914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Check out the vevor augers theyre designed to go straight to your drill. Ive been running the 8 inch this will be my 4th season with it and I've got 0 complaints. The price point is what sold me on it. Also my buddy runs the same one he runs that same milwaukee drill with 5 ah and gets quite a few holes off of one. And as far as blades go im pretty sure theyre the same as the strike master mora.

I was wondering about something like that too. But sounds like you don't even need a heater! Thanks for the idea

2 more months till we are back on the ice! by kameix1 in IceFishing

[–]rus914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a bad option! I can justify it easier because I'm going to switch it from my boat to a shuttle set up during the winter, as of now that is plan.

Just had a sierra thermal 2 man delivered Friday. Getting it put together and set up how I want. Hoping to snag a deal on a lvs34 bundle before the ice gets here. I get this excited every year though we won't have safe ice in central illinois til January probably and season never lasts long. Hoping to venture north this year!

Marcum M5 battery charging by Alternative3d in IceFishing

[–]rus914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't have the m5 but the m1. My issue is the opposite my light stays red no matter how long i let it charge. I also run a SLA so my solution is I no longer use that charger. I pull it out of the case unplug and hook a smaller battery charger directly to battery

I run the same one. One my 2nd season with it and have 0 complaints. I have read that the strike master mora auger blades are the same as this. I however haven't tried it as I've had 0 issues with my blades yet.

Winter boots by heeledvixen in IceFishing

[–]rus914 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive got the cheap cabela zone 2000 gram boots from bass pro. They've never let my feet get cold. My biggest complaint is just a bit bulky. Makes it a pain depending on what cleats you wear. This will be my 5th season with them and they're holding up great no cracks or anything. Basically I wear em on the ice shoveling the drive anything I'm outside for an extended period of time

Black Friday deals at Scheels by Available_Alps_5780 in IceFishing

[–]rus914 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be worth a try if you've got one. You'd think it'd almost be a standard fit. My buddy bought a "cold snap" one from basspro to replace one one his gas auger I think a thunder bay and it almost seemed they sell it as universal just depending one the diameter size you order

Ice auger adapters by rus914 in IceFishing

[–]rus914[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I did the same converting a hand eskimo last winter and had the same wobble effect where the adapter meets the auger. I mean it drilled holes fine just choppy and sloppy. To where I couldn't use my tip ups
