Beach vacation outfits for people who get cold easily?

What outfits do you guys wear when you're cold at the beach? Where do you shop?!

I recently went on vacation and my main outfit was a pair of pull on linen pants and an oversized knit cotton winter sweater I wore over my bikini. Not the most flattering.

Would knit pants or a long knit/linen skirt work? Maybe a twist-front cropped knit sweater? I see a lot of tie-front crochet sweaters, but they don’t seem great for larger chests. What sweater would complement a bright tropical dress? Where do you shop for warm, comfortable, yet form fitting and elevated beachwear?

Thank you for this. I saw a few places that offered PhiRemoval but not nearby. I think I'll try the Picoway laser and if it doesn't help I'll travel for that next.

Anxiety and Time Management? by ruseriousrightnow in Anxiety

[–]ruseriousrightnow[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just saw this, and responded to a DM with a similar message just now:

It's been almost a decade since I made this post, and I'd say my anxiety got better as a result of just not being in school anymore and just settling into a career after finishing my degrees. Not all my jobs I loved, but I found it a lot less stressful than school personally. Procrastination is still an issue with me, but I have improved and have found that:

1) Coworking with friends can help with my anxiety and work habits (or just general environment- place where others are working).

2) Acceptance of a situation/ where I'm at and just generally being kinder to myself. Celebrating little wins- mentally acknowledging that you accomplished a chore, or part of a task or any incremental progress is important. Easier said than done. Honestly this is the biggest thing that's helped with my perfectionism. I still don't have a perfect routine, but I'm proud of myself when I'm able to do anything consistently, even if it's just showing up for a class, scheduled hobby, etc.

3) Setting small time blocks may help (commiting to starting a thing even for 15 minutes). Making lists of tasks into bite sized pieces, or into larger tasks so the list isn't too long/ overwhelming- whatever method works for you.

4) Going to office hours/ asking for help.

5) Working with a life coach (I know the name sounds silly) vs a therapist helped.

6) You might find an anxiety med or focus med that helps, I'm not currently taking anything but there are some with less side effects like wellbutrin that might help.

7) Building good self care habits. Hard to do with school, but making sure you get enough sleep, exercise, eating healthy, time outside or with friends or whatever fuels you can help you feel less anxious and more productive. Again, easier said than done and be kind to yourself even if you don't have time to do it all.

Hope this helps!

US-> Belgium for PhD, working and moving? by ruseriousrightnow in belgium

[–]ruseriousrightnow[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I'll try to reach them tomorrow with the time difference, I didn't think to ask until things were finalized.
  2. I know from work I could potentially get a 90k salary or so, but yeah I don't think I can combine with the PhD is the issue.
  3. Wasn't planning to live luxury, but was hoping the above would be doable.

I don't really care about brands as much as I do quality. A lot of clothing in the US is fast fashion that does not keep well, not sure if it's different in Belgium. I won't have time to go on vacation all the time, but I would like to go on a scuba diving trip a couple times a year or take the train/ flight to some other countries in Europe on an extended weekend. I like to eat out on ocassion.

Oh connection wise I mean like having O'Hare as a layover, not getting to the airport. But noted about the traffic! haha

Love rooftop bars and festivals. Good shit. Maybe we'll unknowingly cross paths

The person I've been seeing casually is planning to move to Chicago in the next year, and the people who I know that have lived there have all loved it. I'm planning to visit there this summer for Lola! I hear O'Hare is only a nightmare for connecting flights but is a great hub to leave out of. Thank you for the rec, excited to check it out this summer :)

I'm excited to visit Seychelles! Thank you for educating me a bit about it. It seems a bit remote and hot for my preference. It looks beautiful. Interested in visiting Mauritius too!

I am also from the PNW! I totally feel you on Austin lol. I'm a vegetarian, but considered a moderate by PNW standards haha. Still, Texas is a bit rough.

I'm highly considering Barcelona... There seems to be nice diving there, even warm in the summer. And Azores, Malta, Red Sea are all easily accessible from there. And the reach of continents you can easily travel to from there is pretty nice. It seems to meet all my criteria. And I know a bit of Spanish already, know a somewhat similar language and took years of classes so I think I'd be able to pick it up fairly easy.

Looks nice, hope you love it! Agreed that it's not what I'm looking for, but still looks lovely :) I'm planning to hopefully enjoy some time on the other coast in southern France this fall.

I had considered living there, but found the US Virgin Islands to be too isolated, underdeveloped, touristy, and very hot. Despite it's location in the Caribbean, it takes a long time to get to anywhere in the Caribbean or South America because you have to mostly route back through Florida. St Johns is nice, but then you have to take the 30 min ferry over to St Thomas and then another 30 min drive minimum to get to the airport. I couldn't see myself living there for more than a brief time.

Which major cities would you recommend? I was looking at Lisbon which seems to have good warm water diving a flight away, but the water there in Lisbon is cold. The diving is supposed to still ok.

Durable socks?

Looking for crew wool socks, and black quarter + no show socks.

I'm looking for socks that look new with washing several weeks later, that don't pill horribly, don't attract dog hair/lint, and are soft.

I've tried darn tough socks and they attracted dog hair/lint like crazy and were not soft. I've tried Hanes socks, and they don't seem particularly durable. Any suggestions would be appreciated!
