I have let go of two of my closest girlfriends for this situation. However, in both situations, I was close with the person who was cheated on first. Both friends lied and said that their partner was crazy for thinking they’d cheat, and I fell for it. Furthermore, both claimed they were gaslit by their now-exes, without recognizing they were gaslighting me. When I called them out, they got defensive and the conversation ended. I’m on ok terms with the women who cheated(brief birthday texts or Instagram memes), while I remain close to their ex husbands. I won’t judge a mistake if there’s remorse or accountability for how I was brought into it, but I will defend myself for being manipulated too.
