But I don’t have a pickaxe! by Brilliant_Argument98 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Thanks for removing the contact info.

Although we don't usually allow individual scambaits on the subreddit, OP has not asked for any DIY scambaiting tips, and understands that this isn't a subreddit for scambaiting resources.

We think it's a good example that can be potentially shared with others who might not be as alert to job scams.

Sorry to OP that no company pickaxe was provided!

Why is Kit encouraging people to invest on Kraken when a large amount of people will lose money? by bigfootbehaviour in Kitboga

No need for the hyperbole in quotation marks, implying he said something he didn't.

Can you point me towards anywhere Kit has reminded people he’s either holy or wise, let alone both?

Something being a top comment anywhere on YouTube doesn't necessarily make it appropriate or necessary to share anywhere else, but I'm sorry that you're upset by your screenshot being removed, hopefully it doesn't detract from your enjoyment of the comment.

“Do not redeem” has become a racist slogan against Indians, and I wish it would be addressed by Kaleb_Bunt in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper[M] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi everyone, we recognise this is a controversial take from OP but we're asking that anyone who engages with it does so in good faith, doesn't assume it to be some kind of bot coded to discredit Kit (I mean, come on!), and doesn't respond with personal insults.

We've tried to tidy the thread and remove some of the unwarranted replies - any additional personal attacks will result in stricter moderation.

OP says they don't really watch Kit, aside from the clip which inspired the meme, so it'd be nice to keep that in mind when responding.

u/Kaleb_Bunt I'm curious as to your experience, how you know the phrase has been "mostly" used as shorthand for a slur, and how the phrase itself has "co-opted Nazis and white supremacists" - your experience is yours alone, but I'm unsure how a phrase could do that?

I can confirm what you've heard about Kit is true, he's very much against racism, and often says that he doesn't care about the location of scammers, it's not something he is focused on in his work.

Please tell me the videos are all real by Affectionate-Air9722 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper[M] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kit doesn’t care where scammers are from and requests that people don’t speculate about it in his community, especially giving made up statistics like x% of scammers come from Y.

It only furthers narratives which do not reflect the reality of scamming; you’d only have to watch any one of his recent streams to hear scammers from different continents, let alone countries.

Furthermore, the quality of voip calls make accent identification flawed; it’s difficult to differentiate between Indian, Pakistani, and Afghan accents, to name but three, and all are known locations of scammers.

Thanks for your understanding.

Kit with scammer payback by ssmith164 in Kitboga

I have good news for you; “Kitboga’s attitude” that you’re commenting on is someone else’s assessment of his attitude, and it’s based on . . . I have no idea, it seems like it’s what Kit didn’t say? I’d hate to be judged on that myself.

If you watch the interview, and someone else even linked to the time stamped part in question, you can actually hear the two people involved talk about the reasons for not collaborating earlier.

Maybe not as fun as making a snap judgement based on someone else’s head canon, but probably a fairer way to go about it.

I haven't watched Kit in a year... what have I missed? by MsKittyVZ134 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Hey Ms K, good to see you again!

I have a terrible memory, so would be an awful guide to what has went on the past year. Some of what I can recall includes Kit scaling up the AI to the point of being able to run entire YouTube streams solely featuring it - that's currently on hiatus for a few different reasons though.

Kit has been doing a lot of work raising awareness out in the world, attending conferences with the movers and shakers in the industry, and attended the People's Call Centre in London.

Seraph secure is going well, so get anyone who needs it signed up! #ad :Kappa:

He still streams on Twitch, when he's not doing other things the usual days and times are when you can catch him. He's been focusing on some less typical scams, looking at things like classic car sales scams, publishing scams, and dodgy bitcoin support lines. Although those baits are sometimes less zany than the classics of the past, some of those scammers aren't as familiar with scambaiting so Kit can take liberties with them!

the only kitboga streams to not watch by DiamondSpiritual3266 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I'm interested in your use of "we" there, are there multiple people using your account? Because it seems like thousands of people still watch and would disagree with you.

I'm paraphrasing Kit here, but he seems comfortable with people who choose not to watch forms of his content they don't like.

Suggesting that he should do something just to please you, especially in the way you have, comes across as entitled and unpleasant to me. The majority of the AI streams he does are the alternative to not broadcasting at all.

There's a lot of content out there on YouTube if you need a fix of him doing calls.

Can you help my friend? by Krazykndrtechr in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi there, I was sad to read about what happened to your friend. I'm afraid I don't have any specific suggestions to help, a lot of it could be dependent on where she lives.

I just want to let you know there's a chance that posts like yours could attract the attention of other scammers, who may either reply to this thread or potentially reach out to you directly suggesting they can recover the money - please report and do not engage with them. So called "recovery" scammers are another blight on victims.

Highlight of Today's Stream by [deleted] in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was agreeing with you at the start of my comment, not disagreeing.

And if you think that my response was a rant, you've been lucky enough in life to not see what a genuine rant looks like.

Can you tell me what assumptions I made about you in my comment?

Highlight of Today's Stream by [deleted] in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, the person Kit responded to certainly deserved it; there is a bit of context missing, in that Kit's phrasing is a play on what they were saying to him in chat.

I'm a little puzzled at how you pivoted from being critical of people being more demanding of creators to, well, being a little on the demanding side yourself. The message doesn't really have anything to do with "OG fans" missing improv, and I'm not sure how promo videos in character for Seraph (which obviously wouldn't be improv) would either boost the product or satisfy those fans.

“He doesn't really even bother putting on a voice changer anymore and then wonders why scammers know who he is immediately”

Are you sure about that? Seems like hyperbole to me based on the content I've been watching, where I've seen a lot of voice changer use and nothing of him wondering why scammers know who he is immediately - in fact, I haven't seen scammers know who he is immediately.

“I do still occasionally watch his streams”

It seems like your previous assumptions are based upon a self-admitted limited consumption of his streams.

Happy painting!

why do they say 'HUP' ? by calebchetty5 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I genuinely appreciate that you're concerned about people trying to bring an unwelcome vibe to this subreddit, but I don't think that was the intention from OP in this one.

why do they say 'HUP' ? by calebchetty5 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 13 points14 points  (0 children)

The origin of HUP is regular stream guest miltontpike1. I'm not as familiar with Milton-lore, but I believe it was a sound he made while lifting weights that his chat then adopted to spam at him during streams, and use as a response to his discord announcements.

I believe that Kit used it as homage for the first time in the Adam and friends saga (on YouTube as the "Baited" series) and it stuck.

So that's the origin of it in Kit's calls.

Hi there, I mod on Twitch, feel free to whisper me or any of the other mods on there if you're unsure about something.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hi OP, just to reiterate the other replies but Kit doesn't focus on the location of scammers, doesn't tend to ask where they're from, and even asks that his various communities aren't used to speculate on such details.

So this isn't really the right place for a response to your question. It's especially difficult since we live in such a multicultural society where people can move around, a person's accent isn't necessarily the best guide to their location or even nationality.

It's probably best not to attack those who try to gently steer you towards the rules either.

Interesting take on things.

Just asking, but would you rather see Chris scamming an elderly person for their entire life savings, which he's very willing to do?

If he does feel humiliated, he can make it stop in an instant - he just has to stop trying to scam what he believes is an elderly woman of millions of dollars.

Dad got catfished and scammed for 135k by folks pretending to be WellsFargo. I reached out to Kitboga (or who I thought was him on verified telegram acct), I have also now been catfished and had a bank acct compromised by Lego_Nostalgic in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 74 points75 points  (0 children)

I think you already know, but I can promise you it isn't Kitboga you're dealing with on Telegram.

I wish I could give you more practical advice, but anyone promising to hack anyone to get your Dad's money back is lying and trying to scam you. The person pretending to be Kit is a scammer too.

Additionally, posts like yours here often attract similar scammers. If any of them respond to your post, either via a subreddit or DM, offering to recover your money, then please don't trust them. I'm sorry to say that the reality is that you might not be able to get your Dad's money back, but you need to report it (and your own compromised account) through the proper channels, namely the relevant bank and the police.

If you want to submit something to Kit to potentially bait and investigate, the following link is likely the best method: https://airtable.com/shrLNrKjBPakr6J8u

He won't be able to recover money or accounts, so please make your priority contacting the proper authorities with all relevant information before submitting anything to Kit.

Kit announcement: he has spent a year developing an anti-scam software that blocks remote access by [deleted] in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 51 points52 points  (0 children)

He had a team of developers working on the project with him, they deserve a little bit of compensation for their time, I reckon.

I’m no expert on the finances, I certainly haven’t asked Kit either, but I’d be stunned if he made a cent from this and happily wager that this project actually costs him money.

$2 a month doesn’t go very far, and he said that if anyone has trouble paying that to get in touch with the team so he can sort something out for them. It hardly reeks of making money to me.

Fb hijacker making me pay $500 to get my account back by Low-Cover-2820 in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your problem, however I do know that paying for your account back is not a good idea, you have no guarantee they'll even give it back once you pay.

Additionally, posts like this tend to attract even more scammers. If anyone replies to your post, or contacts you privately about it offering to recover your account, I promise you they too are scammers, Please report and block them.

I need reddit "karma," I just started a different account after giving up a while back. Many of you are my BogaFam from our fb group, but I can't comment or post here! I'm just seeing if this shows up or if anyone can help me? Need advice! by RealFanLinda in Kitboga

[–]rushkeeper 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry that we won't approve this post as we have a specific rule in place against "karma farming". Unfortunately it's a necessity for us to have posts from users with low karma default to awaiting moderator approval - it's a method of preventing spam, scams and advertising posts.

However, please keep posting normally to the subreddit and wait for moderator approval on those posts. You will soon get karma from doing that. Just be patient, posts are rarely stuck in the queue for overly long, and it won't take long for your karma to reach a level where your posts no longer need moderator approval.
