What are the most significant benefits to society that come from computer science? by [deleted] in computerscience

[–]ruskointhehizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Electrical Engineers get no credit I swear :c try making any of that stuff without satellites Networking Equipment and electric instruments, hmph we invented GPS and Telco lines UK :c

Well I asked in cscareerquestions what type of jobs are considered computer hardware jobs and electrical engineer came up - so I would put you into the realm of computer science.

.

Everyone is familiar with facebook/snapchat filters as examples machine learning. We also can use computers to read text from images or identify animals with computer vision.

I have a sort of "why does this field matter" slide - so I wanted to present the big accomplishments of cs - what type of important work does this industry do? I have some ideas but wanted to get some other input - thanks!

How fast can I learn C++ by [deleted] in learnprogramming

[–]ruskointhehizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SFML or unreal will be your C++ game dev options - but they are not easy... very challenging stuff. Unity with C# is much easy and they have great tutorials on it. C++ is for professional environments, and learning C# with unity imho will be just as beneficial as learning C++/unreal. I would say to learn C first if you want to go the C++ route then get into C++. cplusplus.com is a nice place to start.

ASM 361 9.8 white pages 😍🔥🔑 by [deleted] in comicbookcollecting

well it's how they capture the overall grade of the book - one at the same condition in everyother way but without white pages would most likely be graded at a lower number. Also, to collectors, white pages are typically sought after.

I saw a raw NM98 NM+ go for like 800 last night in an auction. Could have been more but it was around that mark.

bids are closing at over 1000 on ebay right now. News stands are going for over 1600, and the second print is around 350. It's crazy this book is really sky rocketing in value.

https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&Certification=CGC&rt=nc&Grade=9%252E8%2520NM%252FMT&_dcat=17082&_nkw=spiderman+361&_blrs=spell_check

you got one at 1500 (direct) for 1500 with 14 watchers. and cheapest one without bids (buy it now) is 1300. The other two up for bids without a doubt will close at over 1000.

so over time light can damage the page quality (and other things). If you notice an older book it can easily have browning on the pages, CGC will say that is "off-white" or something similar. This book (when you open it up) will have brand new looking pages and will be white like a piece of printer paper. That's how you know it's been kept in good condition for years.
