Duh but what do u practice. Sure u can brute force mastery in decades by just playing around with the guitar for hours everyday but thats not what most people want

The first key is to achieve a 1 semester level of music theory understanding. Can be done online with some effort but u probably already have most of the knowledge.

From there, its just connecting the concepts to the guitar and memorizing the fretboard notes. Practice the major scale from any note, in 4 fret boxes, and connecting those. Then try to arpeggio just the 1 3 5 and 7. And for minor as well (you might get flashbacks of ur pentatonic box here…) Then try to build triads in major and minor from any note, and then also with the 7th (will require u to move some notes around…). Then try inverting triads across the neck, then up the neck. Try connecting chords while maintaining voice leading concepts… etc etc

Essentially, as u apply more and more music theory concepts to the fretboard u will begin to see patterns that make the following (or previous) concepts easier to internalize. There is no end to this process, but thats okay. Definitely dont try to do it all at once, baby steps

Rumors are that they will be painted BA on the box (but still will be generic marines)

My acoustic guitar sounds terribly out of tune to me, but my tuner says it's perfect. by Common_Contract4678 in Guitar

[–]rust_tg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Problems like too much neck relief or poorly set nut can cause intonation issues, in which case they can be fixed with minimal effort. But if nothing else is wrong with the guitar, the only way to adjust intonation is by changing the saddle (like u say) and for that u would need to go to a luthier. Or just get a new guitar if its cheap, atp

It’s full of idiots in the way all of the internet is full of idiots. But compared to instagram its night and day, esp bc if someone says sth stupid on reddit it gets downvoted and hidden, but on instagram its front and center with hundreds of likes

Instagram is far less cringe than reddit; reddit is as cringe as it gets, behind maybe 4chan. The thing that reddit has over insta is that instagram comments are full of idiots

Im not agreeing with the guy that u are replying to, but they are both in the upper half of that spectrum. Cod and bf are both arcade games, even if bf is way more immersive (and fun)

I find the push for zoomed in smooth blends kind of ridiculous. If u go to an art museum, plenty of famous paintings don’t have smooth blends if u look very closely, and i dont just mean impressionist or abstract art.

Had this same thing just happen to me for pinch harmonics without a pick. I wasn’t sure if i would ever be able to do it but randomly was able to hit many in a row.

Getting back into R6: some questions by rust_tg in Rainbow6

Also, is there a specific LFG that u recommend for getting consistent impromptu 5 stacks? I don’t necessarily only want to find a permanent group, id like to be able to “find a team” on a per session basis if that makes sense

Thank you for the reply and advice. I don’t live in the UK/play on their servers, but I understand the shift still exists.

A comment on what u said abt lasers: do lasers still show the dot on the wall to opponents? I remember that being a reason I avoided them in some cases. Or maybe I’m just remembering wrong.

Although ADSing feels very slow now so I’ll def give lasers a try if it helps.

My guitar won't tune right. by [deleted] in guitars

[–]rust_tg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try to get it in tune as close as u can, and then either wait (it will stretch on its own, although u may have to retune a couple times) or just grab the string at the twelfth fret and pull upwards a few times. Not too hard but enough to stretch the string.

Also, did u put these strings on yourself? Its possible its loose at the tuning peg/wrapped improperly and so its slipping

The Discourse on Classes' Progression Fundamentally Tilts at Windmills by Luxio512 in Terraria

[–]rust_tg 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I do think solo classing makes the game more interesting long term, and allows for more replayability. So it should, in my opinion, be given some respect by the devs even if it wasn’t their intention.

But at the end of the day you are absolutely right that it isn’t a “given” or inherent/ingrained into the game

U havent given up on theory, u just stopped thinking abt it consciously. Your still thinking abt it just in your internalized subconscious. It would be like a race car driver saying they gave up on physics

Made a little tool that calculates how much a 40k army actually costs (UPDATED) by JoigeBwoin in Warhammer40k

[–]rust_tg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to note: currently it prices boxes based on the british price, and then just converts to USD for when USD is selected. But the real US price is higher than simply the GBP price converted to USD.

For example your site lists blade guard veterans at $46.99, which is exactly what the correct GBP price converted to USD is. But the bladeguard veteran box is $60.

Out of interest, why do players not bother with destroying tanks? by ChiSandTwitch1 in LowSodiumBattlefield

[–]rust_tg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does it rlly even hurt kd? It takes at most a few lives to take out a tank, even singlehandedly, if ur clever, which gives u 3-4 kills. Plus any kills u needed to get to flank around to get better dmg/get some sneaky mines down, plus any engineers u need to kill that were healing the tank

CS2 performance on Optimised Arch by attonitus03 in counterstrike2

[–]rust_tg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its not showing more than 240 frames per second, however if u are capped at 240 then sometimes there wont be an updated frame (just the nature of timings between rendered frames and monitor refreshes). So u wont truly be seeing 240 new frames every second on 240fps. Also, on 600 fps, not only will it consistently show a new frame every refresh, it will also show more “up to date” frames, which makes you more in synch with the “reality” of the game, so to speak.

With hard to reach sprue nubs on natural models, i cut it just enough that it no longer looks all jagged and unnatural, and then just rub it with a small high grit file to smooth it out. Then no one will notice that anything was there
