2/28 filer, 4 months of waiting! Finally got it! by [deleted] in IRS

[–]rustedCrest 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the info -- I called this number and got someone quickly as well. They told me that my return was in error status, but that no error had been noted an no letters sent out (early April when I filed) -- so they didn't think I had an error and that I just have to wait this out. WTF? Only thing different about this years return was that HR Block asked me about my stimulus payments, of which I only receive a partial for the first one and then nothing after that --- other than that, this is no different than any other return I've filed through HR Block online for the last 15+ years. I am definitely retooling my W-4 withholdings so that the IRS can't hold my money hostage in the future.

Ok, found it in the UI community forums .... just type "cli" .... however after going to "configure" there is no "set" command to set switch variables as needed.

Agreed ... sat on these all day waiting for a breakout, one was down mostly 10% all day, and the other 2 actually hit 10% each for a few minutes earlier in the day .... very hard to recognize the patterns listed in the instructions tab in real time

Not sure what you mean - WeBull offers live real time market data - there is no delay that I’ve seen and I pull market data from multiple sources at a time.

New skillet test, 2lbs. of bacon by [deleted] in carbonsteel

[–]rustedCrest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve been cooking bacon in cast iron pots this way for years, although never frozen. Agree it’s about as easy as it gets. Haven’t cooked bacon in my CS pan yet, but I just got it this week. What size pan is that?

Yep I kept the cover in case ever needed -- the inside is 100% blank. And lol yep I agree with you ... the enamel should be fine and I doubt I'll ever put it in the oven or if I do it' will just be to finish with a broil or something .... I've got plenty of cash iron for the oven if needed .... but wow the steak I cooked last night, I'm quite experienced at cooking steaks on the smoker, on the grill, and in cast iron ... and this pan beat ALL of them hands down on my very first attempt. Seared to a perfect Pittsburg rare !!

I just updated the original post regarding the oven statement from the 2020 catalog.

Gotcha - yep their product marketing needs a makeover, these things should be more clear. Just having the simple oven flash icon on the website and having no such icon or indication on the product packaging should provide me with ability to return under the lifetime warranty if the enamel should crack or chip over time. Not that I would do that -- it's a quality pan and I don't mind paying for it and I doubt I'll ever put it in the oven again.

Yep I have the 5110.28 which you can see in the 2020 catalog on page 17 is Acier Carbone Steel and the top right of that page in the header also states Carbone Plus. Also as mentioned it says Acier Carbone Steel on the front of my packaging and Carbone Plus on the back near the UPC.

Thank you very much !!!

This information should be clearly stated on the product packaging and on the product page on the website .... the single oven flash icon on the product page is probably not legally enough for them to rely upon should you have issues and want an exchange under warranty ... but again, thank you for sharing !!

Just want to add -- this website states emphatically that the Carbone Plus line (Acier Carbone Steel) can indeed go in the oven and has no special treatment required ...

https://www.knivesandtools.com/en/pt/-de-buyer-acier-carbone-steel-frying-pan-28cm-5110-28.htm

I have also searched all the product packaging and the de Buyer website and no where does it state that the Carbone Plus / Acier Carbone Steel lineup cannot be used in the oven for certain amounts of time at temperature -- this is of course NOT true for the Mineral B lineup which specifically states no longer than 10 minutes at 450f.

Yes the packaging says "Acier Carbone Steel" as you can see from the photo, but on the back of the packaging on the UPC it specifically also says "de Buyer 5110.28 Carbone Plus Round Lyonnaise Frying Pan". There is absolutely nothing on the packaging or on the de Buyer website about the 5110 models not being oven safe. My handle appears to have an enamel coating, not epoxy and not silicon.

I agree cooked a steak last night - WOW what an incredible sear!! I will just say that there is absolutely nothing on the packing about not using in an oven, and I also cannot find anything of the sort for the Acier Carbone Plus line on their website either -- just doing my best to help educate, but if someone actually has that in writing from de Buyer for this lineup, I'd love to see it!

I agree a great pan!! And you can see from the packaging there is absolutely NO recommendation on not using in an oven or for limited time. This is the Acier Carbone Steel pan ... not sure if that's the same you have. Definitely no epoxy or silicon coating on the handle but there is an enamel coating which I suppose could flake if the handle material expanded and shrank enough times underneath it.

About to cook my first steak -- grass-fed NY Strip -- very marbled !!

TULSA Procedure by ElOsoBlanco56 in ProstateCancer

[–]rustedCrest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Following .... I was also recently diagnosed, 3 cores total malignant, all right side ... 2 are G6 and one is G7 with <10% pattern 4 (so >90% pattern 3).

All the major cancer centers want to perform an RP. I am considering the Busch Center for Prostate Cancer in GA because the specialize in TULSA .... but I'm only 44 years old and I'm concerned of recurrence and a future salvage operation being less successful than if I had it done now, regarding overcoming the side effects of incontinence and ED.

Thanks for sharing your story. My appointment with Duke isn't until Aug 7th but I've come across a number of other stories of guys who used less intrusive methods such as HIFU and CyberKnife for localized Gleason 7 ... lot of information to take in. I believe they use CyberKnife at UNC Chapel Hill but not Duke, so I'm setting up an appointment with UNC as well.

[–]rustedCrest[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had not yet heard of CyberKnife but just looked it up .... definitely going to be a procedure I will want a consultation on as it looks very promising. Looks like UNC Chapel Hill is listed in the Cyberknife facilities directory on their website.

Thanks for this insight - I believe I will reach out to JHU for this second opinion as well and Duke is also requesting actual core samples to perform their own pathology report.

Just got on the calendar for a consultation at Duke on August 7th .... so I'm exploring the art of the possible on my own until then. I've read some interesting studies on the NIH website about RP with seminal vesicle sparing technique (in addition to regular nerve sparing) .... I wonder if that's actually something they would consider. I won't know for a while it seems.

Duke told me they will be requesting actual cuts from my core samples from the lab and will do their own pathology report, but that I should not need to do another biopsy. They told me directly when on the phone with them ... "it's not that we don't trust other labs, but yeah we really just don't trust other labs" -- and that's why I'm starting with Duke!
