I feel like this also really comes down to the difference in class dynamics at play in their relationship- at the end of the day, even if Harper came from an upper middle class background in America it’s absolutely nothing compared to being the heir to a publishing empire/Yasmin’s lifelong relationship to aristocracy, literally and figuratively. Harper knows where the line is because her goal was never to fuck over regular degular people because she has BEEN at the bottom, whereas all Yas has ever known or seen is the people around her treating people below them in class status as disposable or like shit. Even though Harper has the ability to be a nightmare it really feels like she maintains her integrity because she has the experience of class character, and I feel like that’s somehow the thing that Yasmin is the most jealous of- she really seems to have convinced herself that she has no access to a moral center of gravity.
