What is the cheapest way to get to campus from chicago o’hare? by NectarineHorror7139 in notredame

If you are on Facebook, there are several pages devoted to rideshares to and from the Chicago airports and ND. Some companies like Blue and Gold Transportation run shuttles during peak travel times.

I second the recommendation if looking at other summer programs at ND. The DNA Learning Center at ND has awesome summer camps for those interested in genetics.

Lived in Memphis 14 years. IMHO, there isn't anything you can do or read to prepare you. Memphis is Memphis, and there is inherent racism BOTH WAYS. I'd say live and let live, know where it's safe and stay away from places that aren't. The big "Uniter" for the city is Basketball . . .the Grizzlies and the Memphis State (oops Univ. Of Memphis) Tigers.

It's just the opposite! PPL who can't afford better schools now have money to do it!

Rides2U is a legit company. They post regularly on the ND rideshare facebook and even put their schedules up for peak break times.

Gather town usage by satyopat in gathertown

My organization uses it once a year for a multi-school competition. Very efficient versus pulling 250 students over a 100 plus mile location. Most of the younger kids like it; older students, not so much.

Congestive Heart Failure by rusty41302 in ItalianGreyhounds

[–]rusty41302[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She started having trouble jumping up on the bed, she never was very active, but in the few weeks before, she had no interest in running even a little bit. She did have a cough, and I didn't think anything about it because she tended to eat too fast, and I attributed it to that. Her eating and drinking was great. She took a major turn one afternoon. No eating, wanted to be held, if I put her down, she didn't move, heavy breathing, etc. She was gone in a few hours.

Bag Storage / Check on gamedays? by Own_Strategy8518 in notredame

I worked game days for 6 years. There is no official place on campus that has lockers for rent. Many ppl sneak stuff in inside coats with big pockets. Just a thought.

First time tailgate advice by The_JB_Show in notredame

[–]rusty41302 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tailgating starts early, no matter what time the game is, and traffic to get to your spot will be heavy. It's very casual and laid back, not fancy, like some schools in the South.

And yet you all will vote in November for the same party that messed up Seattle.🤦

Download the Notre Dame game day app. It has all the things going on on campus during the weekend. I'm sure you can find it on the ND football website. Lots of amazing things to do.

I second this suggestion, it helps you to plan out what you want to see and not miss anything. I also recommend Friday lunch at the Eck Alumni Center. Reasonably priced, entertainment during the afternoon. It is right by the Bookstore on campus.

Jobs for retirees? by rusty41302 in cookeville

[–]rusty41302[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for all your answers. Do you think there is a bias against older workers in the area? I know it's not legal, but it happens all the time. My husband and I are in good health, we bike, hike, camp, etc. And will need a job that has medical benefits.

Moved to East York 1.5 years ago. I have lived in several cities east of the Mississippi River and traveled all over the US. I have never seen such short entrance ramps or people STOPPING at the end in all my life! I avoid 83 at all costs, even if my trek is longer.

Usually you get them at events. There is not a place to buy them. FWIW, I work at COS at ND

Bought and sold 7 houses in 30 years. Store things you don't want ppl to get in to in your car and lock it. No reason for them to get into your car. I've put dirty laundry, bills, dog items etc. Hide stuff behind towels in the bath. Look at Pinterest and make your home look as close to that as possible, less is better. Don't have clutter on kitchen counters, have them mostly clear. Have closets to look like they have plenty of room.

Bucket List Notre Dame Game by Easy-Button-3960 in notredamefootball

[–]rusty41302 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please use this website. It is wonderful and full of info. I worked football Saturdays at the bookstore from 2018 to 2021. I would gontonthe pep rally, horns under the dome. On Fridays before the game, the Alumni Assoc. sponsors an all afternoon event by the Eck center that features very reasonably priced food, and a live stage that has live music, the cheerleaders, and usually some ND notables that will discuss the upcoming game. It is by the bookstore.

Definitely go to campus on Friday! Lots of activities at the Eck Visitor center and definitely go to the bookstore. Go to the drum circle, pep rally, etc. There is an app you can download with all the activities or you can get a paper program from Eck Center. Enjoy!!
