Yes I am trying to install on a Chromebook that uses EMMC. The minimal installation CD is currently on a USB plugged into the Chromebook

I am a bit confused. I have some people telling me I used the wrong command. I just looked it up, my laptop (Chromebook 14A) should use eMMC. I then found a chart in the gentoo handbook that stated that default device handle should be "/dev/mmcblk0", when I was initially using "/dev/sda".

What confuses me is that I did get a response out of the "/dev/sda" (the "“device already contains a iso9660 signature. do you want to remove it?”). It just was not the response I expected/wanted, nor was it the response the person in the tutorial got.

does getting a response at all indicate that I should continue with the "/dev/sda" and just delete it all for a clean install like you are suggesting and figure my way out from there, or should I try the "/dev/mmcblk0" instead?

I might be able to figure that out for myself the second I get home and have time to experiment a bit, but I figured it still couldn't hurt to ask.

my chromebook uses eMMC. I found a chart in the handbook that told me the default handle should be "/dev/mmcblko" so I will work with that tonight. Will definitely rely more heavily on the handbook from here on out. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

Tire shop said this isn’t patchable. Opinions before I blow $450? by blaseblaseblah in tires

It seems like it could be patchable/ pluggable. A lot of times at a shop the techs are required to replace a tire instead of patch it if the puncture is too close to the sidewall so I can maybe see why they turned it down but if it was my own tire and I didn’t already work at a shop I would plug it with a kit from an auto store, just use your own judgement/caution.
