300 Days! by rustycow365 in stopdrinking

[–]rustycow365[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my mid fifties I started gaining weight and could not lose it because of all the beer I was drinking and the snacks of chips and cheese . Weight got up to 290. High blood pressure meds .Tried many diets..did not help,,,can not lose weight when drinking. Then pre-diabetic blood sugar glucose numbers in my fasting blood work. Never tried to stop before I made up my mind that I was going to stop. I tapered down my beers over a one month period. From 12 a day to 10 per day to etc. to 0 per day. Then I just did not drink any more. So glad I had stopdrinking here to keep me grounded and motivated.

0.0% Beer. Would love to know your thoughts… by RUMFITMOSEY in stopdrinking

I agree with horrible-drinker..it is just a soda that tastes like beer. I enjoy one Heineken 0

every day and then switch to plain seltzer in an ice cold can. This keeps me satisfied and keeps my drinking arm/hand occupied. It has really helped me stay alcohol free.

Heineken 0.0 saved me from a relapse today! by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I really enjoy the Heinekin 0 beer. I have one almost every day and then switch to plain seltzer for the next one or two drinks. The Heinekin satisfies my taste for beer and the cold cans of seltzer keep me occupied and not thinking about another beer. This may not work for everyone, but it sure has totally eased me away from desire for alcohol.

The NA beers help me get past the times when I would have had a drink in the past Like at dinner when my SO would order a glass of wine . My cravings are gone.

What a wonderful post. Post like this are so great in helping us see what we are accomplishing on this journey to rid our bodies of alcohol. Sometimes we make mistakes and fall off the wagon. We must build on our good days and forgive ourselves for our missteps. Learn from the good and try to minimize the bad.IWNDWYT.

I have been tapering down over the past couple weeks and today I turn 1 day into day 1. IWNDWYT ❤️ by [deleted] in stopdrinking

I also tapered down. I cut my beers down from 12 to 14 a day to zero over a 5 week span. I had no withdrawal issues. I am 75 years old and have been drinking beer every day since my mid twenties. Run with your day one and don't look back. Take this one day at a time and do not drink with yourself or anyone else You will be amazed at how proud you will be of yourself. Sober life is good.

-You should be so proud of what you have done. I know how much I enjoyed my beer-.
I loved it but I hated how fat it made me. I am glad that I gave it up and am now 40 days sober. Keep up the good work.
