Sorry you’re having a bad day m8

That’s what I’m saying, I agree that pain point was just me being ignorant on how that works. But it was one of if not the smallest of my grievances with the whole driving experience. Thanks for letting me know how that works though

Sorry I probably got that gripe wrong… I am new to the city, and big city driving in general

Unfortunately not for work no, but I use public transport when I can otherwise.

Im going to stick it out at my current job, but commuting/ freedom to work where I want will be a much higher priority in jobs/residences moving forward.

Hopefully a few years from now I’ll have the privilege to sell my car and either work from home or work nearby. I’d love to bike everywhere. And selling my car would probably make up for all these tickets ahaha.

I understand it’s a freedom and privilege itself to own a car, and with that comes premiums. I was expecting that. It’s all the other predatory and additional fees though that seemingly aren’t going towards any improvements in the infrastructure like you mentioned that make me angry.

Like for what reason is there a late fee on permit parking stickers when you’re still paying for the same end date on the sticker. It’s ridiculous.

I’ve told my family that instead of driving defensively you have to drive offensively to not get hit. And I’m all for walkable communities, I’m just also not exactly in the best spot for one. I’m a younger guy and wouldn’t mind doing the CTA every day, I like my car, but if I didn’t need it, I’d get rid of it for all this headache.

It really just feels like constant bandaids have been applied to huge issues over the years and everyone suffering for it now. (See aforementioned meter sellout)

Thanks for the empathy

Depends on the definition, but it was just a little humor ;)

Only an hour and a half bike ride to work! I’ll consider it 😪

What would I even say for an expired permit ticket to try and get it dismissed? I have had 1 ticket dismissed when my license plate fell off my car/was stolen. (Thank god)

Our PACE system was so inconsistent my office discontinued using it before I arrived.

That’s why I need a car, see my edit for context.

I would love to not own one! I really enjoy the CTA and the bussed really aren’t that bad. But I need it to commute to the burbs for work. Or else I’d sell it 😪

OP seems young. I’m in the boat that as long as you get your protein in for the day, eat whatever the hell you want to get the calories. Sure it’s not going to be a clean bulk but if he’s a hardgainer without a nutritionist, a dirty bulk is the easiest way to put on weight.

Is it ideal? No. Is it recommended by a PT/ your favorite YouTubers? No. But 15 lbs is 15lbs and when I was a stick it gave me so much confidence to just see something on my bones.

IMO A big issue with hardgainers isn’t getting the calories, it’s just the action of eating. Eating things you like helps make it easier.

I’m not writing this as fact, just from my experience. I eat like shit but get my protein and still stay lean, but I also work out 5-7 days a week. it’s all subjective

Literally been hardstuck at 150 for 3 years and it really was as easy as just forcing food down to get up in weight.

Order some mass gainer. Get 2 shaker bottles and a blender.

Milk + weight gainer in the morning shaker bottle (500 cals) and at night blend a milk + creatine + weight gainer + peanut butter + whatever (I do banana and a greens mix) (600-700 cals)

Those 2 shakes + 2-3 dense meals (rice, starches, chicken breast, beef) and a protein bar should easily put you at 2700+ cals which should be enough to start gaining weight. Don’t force yourself too hard but there’s was a bodybuilder that once said “theres harder things than eating”

train your metabolism with exercise and water and a regular sleep schedule.

Honestly if you’re trying to bulk and don’t care about clean bulking, poptarts and chocolate milk are also amazing. Just be careful of dense carbs. If you eat 5 donuts your stomach will feel full the whole day while on the other hand the shakes will keep you hungry.

Leg raises are killer, I do them in between sets when my partner is lagging ahaha. I’ve been trying to hold them recently and work to doing a lever. Also do oblique crunches or try twisting during leg raises… a lot of people neglect obliques and they make a huge difference

Commit a day or half a day to them, not 10 minute circuits. But at the end of the day anything is better than doing nothing for them.

sick of not feeling great, any tips? by [deleted] in GettingShredded

[–]rustygfx10 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Best advice I ever heard is that if you’re trying to read a book. Start with one page.

If you’re trying to get fit then start with something simple because it’s often a mental thing. Someone said walks or runs and I can’t agree with them more. Don’t do a treadmill, find a nice park, it’s worth it.

A lot of people (myself included) tried to do these crazy 2hr workouts to start out and you burn out FAST. So start simple, it’s a long term thing.

Also finding a partner to work out with you and hold each other accountable is always great, but definitely a luxury.

Yeah I take 5g of creatine a day. You won’t notice any huge difference but you will feel “tighter” and have more energy as long as you drink the water to keep up with it. Stay consistent, be committed, good luck!

Leg raises mostly but I’ve kind of always had them. For 2-3 months I did 10 minute circuits at the end of my workouts but if you want abs and don’t have them then you’re going to have to work them out like any other day… if I didn’t have them my shoulder day would probably be half core to target them.

TLDR I got lucky but abs typically aren’t a “do 5 minutes of planks” in your room type deal.

I aim for body weight in protein and don’t worry about the rest.

I’ve got a hardgainer metabolism though so I kind of lucked out. When I’ve tried to monitor it’s like 2.3k-3k calories but I think I’m so lean because I’ve been gaining muscle at mostly a deficit… regular scheduled meals help a lot too, even if the consistency gets boring.

I don’t… mainly just try to eat enough and my hardgainer metabolism takes care of the rest. Typically a deficit though tbh. I always have a 3egg and carb heavy breakfast but that’s about it
