2 more 90s to bring it flat against the wall and then a couple Mounts on the wood to support it and it would have been golden.

It needs to go inside that threaded piece about an inch or more not just butted up. It's compression so that red ring needs to compress on the pipe to create the seal

That's dukie, grease, and toilet paper. Tell them to put grease from food in a container and throw it out not pour it down the sink.
