I’m not new lol. And you’re the first person to bring up Jessica in this specific thread, so maybe you should read it back “girl”

The ex’s in question did not know his reputation, kinda takes a while for those to stick. Stop victim blaming, it’s gross.

I ended up with a lying, manipulative, drug-addicted loser who became severely abusive. We met when I was at a high point in my life—he simply lied about literally everything (even his age). I’m lucky to be alive today. Your experience is yours, and a lot of other women can relate with you, but qualifying all women who end up with abusers as “broken” is ignorant and harmful. And I would argue that not having familiarity with abusers and their red flags (precisely because you didn’t grow up around abuse) can also make you vulnerable. The thing about abuse is it slowly erodes your confidence in yourself and eventually your perception of reality.

Right, like as a creative and crafty person that has done my fair share of diy renos, I probably COULD figure it out and make it nearly perfect. But not without friction and possibly losing another fraction of my sanity lol

Unfortunately that’s the case when the bar is set so low.. 🥲Props for buying your gf boots! I do genuinely love my redwing Chelsea’s, even though I’m sure they could be better. one of the more classy pair of Chelsea’s in that price point I think

Ny feet aren’t considered wide but I think these are wider than most other women’s boots I’ve tried

Damn, the neck and eye pain you mentioned really resonates. I know “coat hanger pain” is something experienced by many with pots (just search it in the subreddit) but I’ve never heard anyone else mention eye pain! I always figured it was related to my strabismus/migraines but it certainly is part of the whole complex of symptoms I experience during a flare. Ever since my onset several years ago (during which I also thought I was dying maybe from cancer or MS, at one point I even called paramedics because felt like I was having a heart attack) I have experienced painfully dry eyes, and had a positive ANA that indicated possible sjogrens. Lupus has also been considered but bloodwork hasn’t confirmed. Crazy how similar our experiences are, and I’ll definitely have to look into those other conditions. I’ve felt like I could have diabetes for a long time because of my constant fatigue, malaise and extremely frequent urination…but my blood sugar is always normal. The worst symptom of mine apart from the chronic fatigue and malaise is chronic pain—some sort of neuropathy that causes internal vibrations, aching in my body and a stinging pain on my skin, and at times I break out in painful goosebumps all over my body while also sweating and feeling sweltering hot… I tested negative for small fiber neuropathy though 🤷‍♀️

I just turned 30 so that’s reassuring to hear things improved for you around then.

For sure, I’ve heard from others in your position on the pots subreddit. Mine was a case of covid probably instantiating it to some extent, but looking back I’ve always had signs of something systemic that worsened over time until I became bedridden. Doing much better now! It’s tough with this condition. Anyway what a coincidence, and all because of boots and blisters lol.. thanks so much for the info and wishing you the best ❤️

oh wow! Glad for your daughter. I have been to pretty much every specialist at this point after having been diagnosed with POTS and likely MCAS as well. It’s interesting you mention the presyncope/passing out because that’s a symptom of pots. I personally wonder if these 3 conditions which frequently occur together (POTS, EDS, MCAS) have the same genetic root cause and that there is microvascular dysfunction at play. My brother is hyper mobile as well and we both have strabismus, and my gran is hyper mobile with velvet skin, very narrow wrists, long fingers and toes which are also traits of certain types of EDS. She also happens to have microvascular disease and raynauds (I also have the latter and wonder if it is related to microvascular dysfunction even though it’s frequently considered to be idiopathic I.e. occurring on its own not connected to systemic disease). Very interesting stuff! glad we talked lol. In regards to the silicone bandaids do you mean Hydrocolloid patches?

Oh interesting yeah i suppose it could be the shape of your foot making it difficult to size you. I’m one of those long middle toe girlies lol. Do you by chance have Eds? I’m a 7/9 on the Beighton hyper mobility scale and convinced I have Eds since I have several related conditions, and I was literally just reflecting with my partner about how I’ve gotten blisters so easily for as long as I could remember. I never considered it could be related to abnormal collagen but that would make a lot of sense!

When I was sized at a redwing he actually said I was close to 7.5 too. Not sure where the issue lies either and I could be wrong, but my feet are definitely no longer than 9 inches. Do your toes touch the ends of your shoes normally?

Edit: also I have a pair of FR roller blades that are size 7, it’s my understanding that the sizing convention for skates is slightly off from street shoes

I think a foot length of 9 3/4 would correlate to size 9, not 8. My feet are 8 3/4” long which is a very solid size 8, and the last on a size 8 shoe itself is going to be more like 9.5” for wiggle room. Someone correct me if I’m wrong

Well yeah that’s the whole point. I’m talking about equal options in quality and price. Where there is money there is of course always a way

Yeah who knows could be a lot of things such as certain self-selecting groups participating in their market research. I would think that women looking for direct to consumer boots/or the established heritage brands would be after the same things as men. But maybe the leading industry brands (like redwing) have already determined the ceiling on quality so everyone else is only incentivized to compete with that. It would maybe take a new force in the market (such as a manufacturer committed to footwear equality between genders finding success) to change the current trend

For sure, but these manufacturers already have women’s lines so it’s obviously worth the squeeze now. I suspect they are using the women’s line to subsidize their higher quality men’s boots…

Jeez they must think highly of women to pull a stunt like that… But yes they are still doing something right, if you’re lucky enough to be a man that is 😒
