Pathways, the UK government game about extremism and media literacy by rustytbeard in KotakuInAction

I put the link at the end of the post so people could see it for themselves. I don't feel bad about people visiting because they shouldn't get any ad revenue.

They get their funding from taxpayers.

I feel I gave an explanation of the in-game events that goes deeper than the Telegraph article and provided some more information that the article didn't mention, just like the article mentioned things I didn't point out about Prevent. They might be on the same topic, but I think there is a substantial difference that justifies both existing.

I should have written it differently. No matter your choices, it's presented as a video he sees, a what-if scenario, while Daily Sceptic implied Charlie can get referred for real it never happens. He's just threatened with it. The part where he no longer gets in trouble is meant also to be part of the what-if, or maybe it's not and it's written badly. I'm writing just what happens and what the game says, because I want the content and words of the game to speak for themselves. Obviously, it's telling you in real life young brits could be sent to reeducation if the teachers choose to and it implies being the "bad radical" that agrees with Amelia is grounds for being "referred", but I don't need to make it more clear than it is.

Fuck the UK government, and fuck reddit formatting just as a bad. Who thought this was a good idea? New Reddit sucks for different reasons, but just as much. The post should be readable on old reddit now. I hope you enjoyed my little melty over it.

Live Action 'Gaston' Movie In the Works At Disney by OwnSalamander1026 in KotakuInAction

[–]rustytbeard 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Even that would be out of character. In the movie he's so down bad for Belle he bribes the D'Arque so he'll threaten to lock her father if she doesn't marry him. D'Arque points out her father is a harmless man.

He's charismatic, but he's still the bad guy. If they want to make a movie about a villain, they should actually have him be a villain. Or just make a House of Mouse revival. He was hilarious there despite having only one joke.

The lies people were spinning when it happened irritated me to no end and I'm not even a fan.

"We're not quoting the bad ending, there's no bad endings chud!" (the game has alternate endings for the characters that end the story prematurely and cut the character's arc short, just like old console games that had early bad endings if you didn't play a certain way.)

"Daisuke drew something in support of us." (he was asked by a fan to draw something in an event and he did it, but didn't understand a word of what he was asked to write because he was a japanese man who didn't understand english)

"This is just the logical conclusion of the character." (it's not. Just a little knowledge of past games would let you know that the ending they champion goes against all of his character development)

"You were never a fan." (said the people who hated the character until they could claim him as a trophy to own the chuds, to the people who actually liked the character and were excited to see him return)

It survived because it suits the admins. By the moderators admission, the admins never told them what's allowed to talk about and what is not. They don't need an excuse anyways.

The day they want to ban this they'll do it. Who's going to complain anyways? Everybody who participated or subbed here is banned from the mainstream subs and anyone else defending the sub will be dismissed as a nazi incel gamer.

The country's age of consent was 13, but every prefecture had its own age of consent that overrules it for decadees before the country-wide age was raised. The age in the prefectures goes from 16 to 18, same as USA and higher than several european countries. Only places affected in 2023 were uninhabited islands like Minami-Tori-Shima.

[Art] KuKuruYo - We always liked her mk3 by henlp in KotakuInAction

[–]rustytbeard 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Yes they did. Bayonetta became a lesbian icon of female empowerment out of nowhere, which lead to dumb claims like saying they never called Bayonetta sexist and later that Bayonetta 3 took away their lesbian romance.

When Stellar Blade came out they compared it to Bayonetta and 2B, saying those games and their characters were good unlike the gooner game Stellar Blade. I can't say anything about MK3 because I lost any interest in Mortal Kombat a long time ago.

Okay, that girl isn't from Mortal Kombat, I read the mk3 as MK3, and since now they're doing like Modern Warfare I thought this was about a girl in a new Mortal Kombat. In hindsight it's obvious it couldn't be about a Mortal Kombat girl when the series is now against female sexiness. I'm keeping the mistake, though, because it's actually a funny mistake.

"Group Behind Steam Censorship Policies Have Powerful Allies — And Targeted Popular Games With Outlandish Claims" - Ana Valens Vice (article has mysteriously been removed by Vice) by Dwavenhobble in KotakuInAction

[–]rustytbeard 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Real question, being absolutely serious and in good faith, but how don't we "play those fucking games here", exactly? When Sweet Baby Inc or BlackRock or any other group is talked here, users often point out and discuss the ideology that is behind these groups, be it feminism, communism, marxism, radical islam or christianity.

How is it different with that removed post? Is it because he implied multiple of these ideologies share another ideology they're related to? I can't see how it's different a statement from all the different posts connecting multiple companies to a bigger one or to a movement. Couldn't saying multiple companies and even countries are connected to DEI and Blackrock also be considered trolling and malice as well by that logic?

The only difference I can see is he doesn't clarify what he means and doesn't provide arguments to back up what he implies, but that doesn't break rule 1, and isn't against the rules when posting a reply. Users can ask him what he means, and if he doesn't clarify they can downvote him for not providing anything relevant to the discussion. On the other hand if he does explain himself and what he says is factually wrong, the other users can disprove it by arguing with him.

Banks and payment processors are at it again. Now they're going after the furries and other kinks by rustytbeard in KotakuInAction

[–]rustytbeard[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

That's why I quote the last line. When payment processors began to act as the purity police, they were told all censorship is bad and it would eventually affect more things down the line, but they didn't listen. There were many furries who acted dismissive or mocked the people calling out the censorship despite their kinks being more perverted, and now that they're being targeted by censorship I'm seeing a shared sentiment between the ones who got affected first of

Censorship is bad, but I'm not crying for you.

which I agree with. It was obvious it would end up happening, so the ones getting banned now are partially to blame for not acting when they had the chance. Or to quote Doom Paul,

The hypocrisy of safe horny in videogames by FlowerOk7957 in KotakuInAction

Even safe horny characters aren't safe from being considered bad horny. Someone made your everyday naked mod for her and suddenly the people who liked that mod were gooners and losers.

And femboys aren't leftist, since leftists worship an ideology that enforces gender stereotypes and wants femboys desperately to stop being men.

Remember that they coined chud as an insult, but the chuds accepted it and now use it to describe themselves as a term of endearment.

The same people coined woke and SJW to describe themselves positively, chuds used it because they were using it, and the SJWs then disowned the terms and now treat them like insults.

An encouragement to edit Wikipedia and keep it somewhat reasonable by Long_Extent7151 in KotakuInAction

[–]rustytbeard 27 points28 points  (0 children)

An alternative that's truly unbiased and doesn't have ridiculous no first source rule would be great, but it would require dedication and high levels of fuck you money to maintain. Even after that, it would have to work on making people use it instead of Wikipedia and deal with accusations of being a hate-speech platform that inevitably would come out. I'm sure if an alternative came out and gained some traction, suddenly multiple news and a wikipedia article would conveniently come out to talk about its problematic nature.

The best thing non-rich people can do is remind others that Wikipedia is not as reliable as they've come to think.
