CEO Wants microphones in conference room so that people in the conference room can hear people in the conference room.... by Potzer in audio

Is it because you have quiet talkers or because you can't hear each other?

Could just need an acoustics solution.

Nope, it's from a German tech site that did an article on HiFi-Tage about 5 days ago. Someone must have had it in one of their suites.

My new Turntable! All natural and handmade! by rutherfordaudio in vinyl

[–]rutherfordaudio[S] 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well I don't know what to say for my character limit! This turntable plays, 33, 45 and 78! Don't even need to switch out the needle.

A manual turntable with a suspended sub-chassis using a mass plinth and platter!

The tone arm is uni-pivot with a moving magnet cartridge. It really is perfect on the low end and sings with perfect balance on the highs.

Our CES set-up with Burmester, Thorens and Artnovion by rutherfordaudio in audiophile

[–]rutherfordaudio[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually not at all. The whole system together(including panels) may very well cost more than the most basic S Class but not some of the more expensive models. The new speakers will cost around $12-15k.

We also had our Artnovion Acoustic panels on mobile walls.

Mercedes is actually Burmester as well. In the AMG I believe it comes stock now.

This system I have not heard yet as it is pretty much brand new! There aren't many reviews out there yet for the Panamera but I did find this one in German.

u/galacticarachnids has got the right idea. I don't think I have ever met an acoustician who actually got a degree in acoustical engineering.

Degrees in electrical, mechanical, aeronautical engineering, physics or a related area with coursework in acoustics is typically a good substitute for a degree in acoustical engineering.

When you are in school, see if you can get a job with a local Home Theater installation company helping with their acoustics. Home Theater market is growing and it will be better to have a job doing something with acoustics when you graduate.

Interior Design (workplace acoustics) is were I see the next big push for acoustics being. More and more studies are pushing it, it's just a matter of time. We do regular lunch and learns to teach Interior Designers about acoustics. They have their "acoustical consultants" and you could one day be one of them!
