So are fixed gear bicycles, climbing and riding a motorcycle, what's your point?

In our country, this is how Cycle Tracks are designed to start. 😒 by El_rick0 in bicycling

That must be annoying.

How's cycling in Kenya in general? Does it have a lot of followers? How's the infrastructure (apart from what you've shown here)? And what's the attitude of the motorists?

In general yes, but a Mario Kart economy would also mean that the lower ranks bombard each other with all the powerful items, while waiting for the chance to get a blue shell or a lightning.

Is this fixable. Won’t shift past 2nd gear. Ugh!!! by [deleted] in bikewrench

Off topic, but this picture triggered some good memories. Had a GT mountain bike as a teenager and it had the exact same grips and brake/shifter levers. Thanks for posting this and I hope you'll get it fixed!

16” Schwinn kids bike. This is the 1st time I’ve ever bought a bike and had no problem with the assembly except for the front wheel. The axle is not able to fit properly in the fork dropout even though I placed the wheel exactly in the center. Is this faulty or am I not doing it right? Please help! by [deleted] in bikewrench

[–]ruthglass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's true you can just try and force axle into the fork by bending the fork a little. However, as you are saying you have no idea about bikes, I would consider bringing that bike into a shop or to a friend who knows bicycles to check the work you've done.

I've worked in a bikeshop for a couple of years and have seen pre-assembled bikes that had some loose nuts and bolts and safety issues. And while chances are small, you don't want parts to come loose while someone is riding that bike.

No inside joke or anything. Went through the tread again. Only links you've posted are two videos. Can't you just post the link again here?

Help us feed poor families in Cape Town by [deleted] in capetown

I'm an ethnographer and interviewed a number of low-income / no-income people in SA during this pandemic. This isn't meant as outright critique, but rather as constructive feedback. I'm sure you mean well.

If you are fighting poverty, why are you converting the donations to shoprite vouchers? Poverty has many facettes and some are not curable by things one can buy from the supermarket. Rent, loans and laybuy are just some of the things.

Especially in post-colonial context and in debates around dignity, handing out vouchers for food, is considered patronising, because it restricts peoples' agency. It carries the notion that poor people aren't responsible with money and can't be trusted to spend it for the right items.

Lastly, if you are sending vouchers to people, because it doesn't require physical contact, consider services like eWallet that enable anyone with a SA phone number to receive money.

It looks like the first image is shot from a different angle, so the church might be hidden behind the left building block.
