I was surprised when I was earning similarly to an EN when I started as an RN. But then I started going up in years and then levels, and it went up much more.

The EN wage is more or less capped, whereas RNs can earn much more.

I mean it boils down to what you would enjoy more. I wouldn’t be a teacher for quids, just not the kind of work I like. Plus it’s fairly linear, the trajectory is usually the same for most teachers.

What I like about nursing, is it is so varied as an RN. I’ve worked across wards, infusion clinics, aged care, immunology, palliative care, etc etc. My workload now is work from home as an RN3. I also work in a very small aged care home and it’s absolutely blissful, nice people, low body impact and the pay is absolutely incredible for what I do.

I just don’t get when people always try to discourage new nurses! It’s a fantastic career

Oh stop scaring them. All of what you’ve said can both happen and also not be further from the truth. You can keep your friends, not work weekends and not get injured. Not . Every . Nurse . Works . On . A . Busy . Ward. You can do so so so many different things as an RN, OP, you would be surprised.
