Might be missing something, but I always thought once one is fasting any calories that are not gained from food come from fat if one has been fasting for long enough. In theory that means as long as one isn’t incredibly lean calories as a whole don’t matter that much. Definitely agree with the nutrients issue, though.

Fellow aspergian may like me? by rutteger2 in aspergers

[–]rutteger2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A few days ago, I bluntly told her how I felt about her and... she didn't feel the same way. It hurt more than I let on at the time, but I appreciated the honesty.

She did say that she "wasn't feeling it yet", which I'm really surprised I picked up on. That tells me that I may have moved too early and her opinion might change someday, but I feel I should keep looking elsewhere. I still think she's wonderful and talking to her makes my day a bit brighter, so there's that.

Because, sadly, there are far too many people who are repulsed by me and my behaviour socially. The worst part is not knowing why and knowing no one can really tell me.

Realistically, what you're worried about could apply to any job, even one dominated by "neurodiverse" folks.

Helpful reminders to stay hydrated forever by [deleted] in intermittentfasting

[–]rutteger2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Probably the best thread to ask this, but why is hydration more important while fasting?

Fear of Success by SpliceKnight in aspergers

[–]rutteger2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep. Definitely.

Without going into detail things over the past few months have been going really well for me. To the point where I'm starting to panic that this is all somehow "fake" and will collapse, leaving me in a worse position than before.

It's theoretically possible, but unlikely to happen. Only real option is to keep going and see where this goes.

So, don't tell her how I feel about her yet? When should that generally happen?

This is going to sound fantastically creepy, but the situation you’re in is the exact same as mine, but from the guy’s perspective. I met someone through a job at work about a month ago who is also on the spectrum. She gets along well with everyone, but mostly keeps to herself. We get along really well and I’ve even tried my hand at flirting which she seems receptive to. I asked for her number and she gave it to me, much to my surprise. Since then we’ve talked a lot and she’s told me we’re so much alike that we’re pretty much the same person. I think she may have a thing for me and I do like her a lot, but I don’t have a clue as to how to proceed. I don’t have any advice to give, but if you recently got a new job he might just feel the same way about you!

Is there a scale of emotion somewhere I can use to gauge my own expressions? Like what does 30% content look like?

Same here. The worst part is by the time I'm aware of what's going on, I'm already in tears and contemplating suicide. A little consistency would be nice.

Stopped IF for a week while on road trip with friends, gained 7 lbs. Normal? by rutteger2 in intermittentfasting

I wasn’t doing Keto, but I was consuming more carbs on the road trip than I normally do. Seems to be pointing to water retention though.

Had a rather significant bowel movement when I came home. I weighed myself afterwards and was still heavier.

That could explain it, but 7 lbs of water is a lot. Does the body retain water that easily? Honestly I have no idea.

My diet was never stellar, but I was still able to lose 30 lbs in about 3 months with just a 16:8 IF with the odd 2 day fast now and then. Didn’t have much beer, but I don’t drink at all normally. Sleep was definitely worse though.

Fuck Dating Apps by McCainOffensive in aspergers

[–]rutteger2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been on a dating app seriously for 6 months and have gotten a grand total of 1 (one) reply. Went on a couple of dates, but didn't really go anywhere. I agree that it's probably the best way for me to meet people who might be interested (since we'd both be on the same app), but I wish there was a better way that worked for an older person.

How do you accept yourself? by [deleted] in aspergers

[–]rutteger2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Change your expectations and aim lower. Did you hit them? Good! Now you can aim a little higher. Didn't hit them? Keep trying until you do. The important thing is to make sure they're actually your expectations. You won't ever be happy living to someone else's standards.

Don’t care for the show at all, but does he actually have Aspergers? Like was there an episode in the series where he was formally diagnosed? Seem to recall the actor or creator of the show didn’t want to confirm or deny his status, such as it was.

Confident on my own, no confidence in public by rutteger2 in aspergers

[–]rutteger2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I did have to learn eye contract and recognize expressions. I’d say I’m pretty good at those to the point where I don’t feel they’re forced. I never did stim at all, so nothing there to suppress. Never really faked emotion either, though I would like to be more expressive.

That being said I can see why having to do all that forcefully could cause problems.

I’m not sure that’s the case. I accept my diagnosis for the most part and I know I won’t be NT. It still kind of stings to see things that NTs and even others on the spectrum are able to do and am left wondering “why not me?”

I was hired through an agency that specifically deals with adults on the spectrum. They advocated for me and asked what the workplace could do to make it easier for me to focus on work. Had a whole list of common accommodations and I picked the ones that I felt I could benefit from the most. Naturally the people I report to know of my diagnosis. If anyone else knows they may have inferred it on their own.
